Newcastle to win

Newcastle are flying high this season, as they find themselves in third place in the Premier League following significant financial investment. Having said that, Eddie Howe has done a wonderful job at St James’ Park and he’s had them firing all season, and they haven’t tailed off towards the end. The Mgapies have won three of their last four, with a 6-1 win over Spurs, a 1-4 win over Everton and a 3-1 win over Southampton, followed by a 0-2 defeat against title hopefuls Arsenal. Leeds are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the table under newly appointed ‘Big Sam’ Allardyce, and will be right up for this one. However, Newcastle will be keen to secure third place and I think they’ll have too much for strugglers Leeds in this one.

Both teams to score

I did say Leeds will be up for this one, and I expect them to at least bag a goal at home to Newcastle. Big Sam will have them fired up as they’re staring relegation in the face, and they won’t go down without a fight. Newcastle have conceded at least one goal in nine of their last 10 Premier League matches, and Leeds have scored at least one in each of their last 10. I think this will be a closer game than some might think, and I’m backing both teams to score at least one each.

Junior Firpo to be booked

Junior Firpo has made 13 starts and four sub appearances for Leeds United this season. Should he start, the left back will be in for a tough shift against a tricky and fast Newcastle front line, and I expect him to make a number of fouls. The Spaniard has collected five yellow cards so far this season, averaging 1.39 fouls per game. I’m backing him to pick up his sixth booking of the season in this one.
