Iran picked up a very impressive result last time out against Wales. However, I don’t think they’ll pick up all three points in this one. I expect Iran to be slightly fatigued and, with the USA unbeaten so far (two draws) I think the Iranians will struggle here. The USA need a win to qualify, and although it’ll be tough, I feel the American’s may have enough to get what they need from this fixture. If it ends a draw, however, Iran will be the team to finish second and get out of the group. I expect a good game here and I think USA should have enough to win, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw and think playing it slightly safer in this one is a good idea.

 

Tim Ream to be booked

Tim Ream will be in for a tough match here against the likes of Mehdi Taremi, who has proved himself to be the danger man for Iran at this World Cup. Ream already has one booking to his name at this competition and I think he will make a number of fouls in this one as his side look for last 16 qualification. The Fulham defender has one Premier League booking to his name this season and has averaged 0.39 fouls per game, which may seem low, but I think he is excellent value to see yellow in this one.

 

Mehdi Taremi over 0.5 shots on target

Mehdi Taremi will be the focal point of the Iranian attack once more as they look to pick up all three points and advance to the last 16 of the tournament. He scored Iran’s two goals against England and will have a number of chances in this one as well. The Porto striker averages 1.31 shots on target per game for his club and I expect he will get at least one in this one against the USA.
