Netherlands to win

The Netherlands have been in fine form at this World Cup and are unbeaten so far. They’ll need to keep up that streak if they want to advance further as we now enter the knockout stages of the competition. Louis Van Gaal’s side won two and drew the other of their three group matches, winning Group A with seven points, one more than second placed Senegal. The Dutch defeated Senegal 2-0 in their opening game before drawing to Ecuador then securing their last 16 place with a 2-0 win over hosts Qatar. I expect them to win this one against the USA, who managed to get through their group with five points from two draws and one win.

 

Over 2 goals in the match

There has been two goals in each of Holland’s matches so far at this World Cup, but I expect there to be more in this fixture against the USA. The men from America will throw everything at this fixture to try and advance to the quarter finals of the competition, where very few expected they would end up, and I think they’ll get a goal or two despite being beaten by the Dutch. The PSV man has three in three so far and will be keen to get his goal tally up and prove his worth on the biggest of stages. He has nine goals from 14 games in the Eredivisie so far this season and he will get plenty of chances here. I think he will take at least one of them and help his side into the next round.
