Sunderland vs Aston Villa bet builder tips and predictions for Sunday’s Premier League fixture, with a match prediction, total goals in the match and two players to get a yellow card betting tips.

Betting odds

  • Villa are 11/10 for the win away from home
  • The draw is 5/2
  • Sunderland are 12/5 to win at home

Sunderland have had a decent start to life back in the Premier League, with two wins from four, sitting seventh in the table. They’re 9/1 to finish in the top half, and 4/6 to stay up.

Villa have had a terrible start and are the only team not to score so far. They’re second bottom in the league. They finished sixth last season, and are 8/11 for a top-half finish this season.

Sunderland vs Aston Villa Predictions

Sunderland vs Aston Villa Match Result Prediction

I’m backing Sunderland to win at home against Villa this Sunday. The Black Cats have won two, drawn one and lost one of their opening four matches. Both of their wins have come at home, and I think they’ll win at home again against a Villa side who have had a dreadful start.

Toal Goals in the Match Prediction

I don’t think there will be a lot of goals in this game. Villa are yet to score in the league, and I think it’ll be difficult for them to find the net again here. Sunderland have scored five goals in their opening four, but come into this one off the back of a goalless draw away to Crystal Palace. I think under three goals is a safe bet here.

Sunderland vs Aston Villa Yellow Card Betting Tips

I’m backing to players to be booked – Granit Xhaka and Matty Cash. Xhaka has been carded once already this season, and I think he will make a number of fouls in the middle of the park against an aggressive Villa midfield. Matty Cash has been carded twice in his four league appearances, after picking up seven cards in the league last season. Both players are good odds to be carded in this one.
