Exeter City sit in third place in Group 13 of this seasons EFL Trophy, level on points with second placed, Bristol Rovers.
The Grecians drew 1-1 with Chelsea U21’s in their opening game but were defeated on penalties to only collect a point from that fixture. They then travelled to Cheltenham where they drew 2-2, but this time won on penalties to collect two vital points.
Bristol Rovers won their opening game of the competition, beating Cheltenham 2-0 at the Memorial Stadium. However, they were then beaten 2-1 by Chelsea U21’s, which has set up this crucial game in Devon.
These two sides did meet earlier in the season in League Two at St James Park, with Exeter running out comfortable 4-1 winners back in August. The hosts sit in fourth place in League Two, after losing just one league game this campaign. Meanwhile, Bristol Rovers sit down in sixteenth place with just five wins from their opening 15 league games.
Here is what is going to make up our Bet Builder:
Exeter City to win
The Grecians are in great form at the moment having won their last three games in the league. They also held Bradford City to a draw at the weekend in the FA Cup and will go into Wednesday night’s match confident of progressing through to the knockout stages.
Exeter Handicap Bet (-1)
On home soil and having already beaten Bristol Rovers 4-1 earlier in the season, we think Exeter can win this game comfortably.
Over 2.5 goals
There are usually goals when Exeter or Bristol Rovers play so we predict the game will see more than 2.5 goals. Exeter’s last two games at home have seen more than 2.5 goals, whilst two of Rovers last three games have also yielded over 2.5 goals.
Both teams to score
Although we think Exeter will win this game comfortably, we can see both teams scoring in what could be an entertaining game. Exeter’s last nine games in all competitions has seen both teams scoring, whilst five of Rovers last six games has also seen both teams’ score.
