Accumulator Odds – 12/1 with bet365,
Coventry, Oxford and Portsmouth will all be aiming to enhance their promotion prospects from League One when hosting lower-table opposition this weekend. Their respective clashes feature in this Saturday Accumulator alongside home games from League Two and the National League where Colchester and Boreham Wood respectively are seeking promotion playoff positions ahead of welcoming their next opponents. Odds of approximately 14/1 will be available for the successful outcome of these 3 o’clock kick-offs.
Following a 1-0 victory at out-of-form Bristol Rovers in their previous game, Shrewsbury were perhaps unfortunate to be beaten 3-2 by Oxford at the New Meadow last Saturday. The Shrews led 2-0 before being reduced to ten players, but they had won just one other league match this year. In contrast, hosts Coventry have won seven of their last eight League One fixture and drew with Rotherham in the other. Although the Sky Blues do not score that many goals, they have conceded no more than once in any league game during 2020. Another home win is tipped for Coventry.
After winning their last four League One games of February, Oxford sealed a late 3-2 win at Shrewsbury last Saturday but were 2-0 adrift before their hosts were reduced to ten players. However, the U’s will now be seeking a fourth consecutive win at the Kassam Stadium when hosting an MK Dons outfit proving to be relatively poor travellers. Although they have drawn several games on the road, the Dons have failed to win an away fixture in league action since early September. The visitors will provide a stern challenge for the hosts, but Oxford should extend their winning momentum.
After winning three successive League Two matches at the beginning of February, Accrington Stanley are now winless in four games with three defeats suffered and a 0-0 draw earned at struggling Bolton. Stanley have also won just once in five attempts on the road this year ahead of this visit to Portsmouth with the hosts failing to win any of their three competitive games this month. Yet a 2-2 midweek home draw with promotion rivals Fleetwood was the first time Pompey had failed to win a League One match at Fratton Park in eight attempts. Portsmouth can return to winning ways in this game.
Two successive 2-0 defeats suffered this month is not a good sign for Scunthorpe although one of those losses was incurred at Swindon. Yet the Iron are winless in five League Two matches on the road and have conceded at least twice in each of those contests. A visit to Colchester awaits this weekend with the hosts returning to form by winning 3-0 at Carlisle in their latest game. The U’s had stumbled in recent weeks after a long unbeaten sequence, but they could seal a third win in four matches from this encounter.
A 1-0 win earned at Maidenhead last weekend confirmed Boreham Wood as serious candidates for the National League promotion playoffs and prior to that game, the Wood had lost only once in eleven previous competitive outings when narrowly beaten at Aldershot. Torquay will be the next visitors to Meadow Park and they have won just one of eight previous away matches in all competitions. The Gulls appear to be placed in a fairly comfortable lower mid-table position and may lack the current ambitions of their hosts. A Boreham Wood win is forecasted.
