Reasons for Tonight’s Football Betting Tips

Important domestic league and cup games feature in this Tuesday Accumulator which includes Motherwell facing lowly Premiership team St Mirren in a Scottish Cup replay. In other games, Oxford will hope to resume their previously good form on home soil when hosting AFC Wimbledon in League One action, while Plymouth could inflict more woes on struggling Macclesfield in League Two. National League leaders Barrow will aim for a return to winning ways when welcoming Dover whereas Exeter visit impressive home team and reigning champions Portsmouth in the EFL Trophy.

Oxford vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Tip – Oxford win.

Karl Robinson watched in frustration as his Oxford players dominated possession on Saturday but were unable to breach a stubborn Sunderland defence during a 1-0 home defeat. That loss was just a third League One reverse for United at the Kassam Stadium this term with three league wins earned at the venue since mid-December. A home game against AFC Wimbledon now awaits with the visitors earning a point at Rotherham at the weekend via a very late converted penalty. Yet the Dons have won just once in nine previous league outings and are facing a third defeat in four away games.

Macclesfield vs Plymouth Betting Tip – Plymouth win.

A late goalkeeping error ensured that Macclesfield suffered a fourth defeat in five League Two matches when beaten 3-2 by Exeter on Saturday at Moss Rose. The Silkmen had recovered from a two-goal deficit and now face another of the promotion contenders when Plymouth visit Cheshire but we’re using the BetBull free bet offer to back an away win in this one. Argyle claimed a third win in four league games when beating Crewe 2-1 at the weekend although they benefited from the Railwaymen missing a sitter with the scores level. However, the Pilgrims have won five of their last six league fixtures on the road and could earn another three points.

Portsmouth vs Exeter Betting Tip – Portsmouth win.

For this EFL Trophy semi-final, Portsmouth will aim to extend an impressive sequence of form at Fratton Park this season as they aim for a second successive victory in this tournament. Southampton are the only visiting team to win at the venue this term where both Sunderland and Shrewsbury have suffered 2-0 losses this month. Hosting Exeter will be no easy game for Pompey but the visitors had lost two successive League Two games on away soil before they were helped by a late goalkeeping error when winning 3-2 at Macclesfield on Saturday. The Grecians will test Portsmouth but a home win is tipped.

Motherwell vs St Mirren Betting Tip – Motherwell win.

After drawing the original tie 1-1, Motherwell now host this Scottish Cup replay and they will be aiming for a first victory in six competitive outings. The Well were unfortunate 2-1 losers at St Johnstone on Saturday but have won four times on the road since the beginning of December and have claimed six Premiership wins at Fir Park this term. Visitors St Mirren have only beaten Broxburn Athletic this year and just two Premiership victories have been registered since late November. Having won just once on the road this season, the Buddies are likely to lose this replay.

Barrow vs Dover Betting Tip – Barrow win.

Just one victory registered in five competitive outings amid two successive defeats can be regarded as a mini-slump for National League leaders Barrow ahead of this home fixture with Dover. The visitors beat the Cumbrians 2-1 on the South Coast earlier this month, but the form of the hosts at Holker Street is impressive with five consecutive wins earned at the venue and with just one goal conceded. Although Dover have improved in recent weeks, they have claimed just two victories on their travels since the beginning of December and a return to winning ways is predicted for Barrow.
