Reasons for this Weekend’s BTTS Tips

With Wayne Rooney emerging as a regular in the Derby County first team, the Rams could improve as an attacking force and they now host unpredictable Hull in Championship action. That contest features in this BTTS tip alongside in-form teams Doncaster and Coventry clashing in League One. The final two selections cover two games in League Two with promotion-seeking teams Exeter, Crewe and Cheltenham all involved alongside revitalised Grimsby.

Derby vs Hull Both Teams to Score

It would be fair to state that Derby have been a decent team at Pride Park this term with just two Championship defeats incurred and they claimed 2-1 victories in the last two games at the venue. The inclusion of Wayne Rooney has further strengthened the first team and the Rams now face a Hull outfit which is proving to be inconsistent but which has won three consecutive matches on the road. It is also worth noting that the Tigers have failed to find the net in just one away fixture since mid-October when losing 2-0 at Leeds last month.

Doncaster vs Coventry Both Teams to Score

After suffering a 2-1 home defeat by Sunderland over the festive period, Doncaster have responded by winning all three League One fixtures this year, while Rovers have also netted in each league game from the beginning of December onwards. In-form Coventry will be the next visitors to the Keepmoat Stadium and the Sky Blues have lost just a single League One fixture since the beginning of November. City have also netted in each league and FA Cup match during the same time period.

Grimsby vs Exeter Both Teams to Score

A failure to win a League Two match from the beginning of October through to the end of 2019 was proving to be a serious problem for Grimsby but the recent arrival of Ian Holloway as manager appears to have rejuvenated the team. The Mariners won their first two matches this year and then conceded a late penalty equaliser at Leyton Orient last time to offer some hope for future weeks, but the visit of Exeter presents a more difficult challenge. Besides netting during each league match since late November, the Grecians are unbeaten in league action since suffering a 2-0 loss at Bradford at the beginning of that same month.

Crewe vs Cheltenham Both Teams to Score

Since drawing 0-0 at Forest Green Rovers during late November, Crewe have netted in each of their League Two fixtures and have scored three or more goals in three of those games. A 3-1 defeat at Swindon last time was a setback for the Railwaymen and visiting outfit Cheltenham will be another difficult opposition team. Unbeaten in league action on the road since the beginning of September, the Robins scored three times in winning their last two games and earned score draws in their previous three away matches.
