Weekend League Two Betting Tips

Forest Green vs Plymouth – Forest Green Win

Forest Green may have been battered in the EFL Trophy in midweek, but they should be strong enough to get back to winning ways on Saturday. They played a weakened team on Tuesday and Mark Cooper’s side should be back to full strength for this one. They’ve actually won their last two games in League Two, although both of those fixtures were away from Gloucestershire. They haven’t been as strong at the New Lawn, although a 4-2-1 record is pretty admirable. Plymouth have been a funny team to follow this season and they may still be licking their wounds after a heavy defeat to Exeter in the Devon derby. On the road, they’ve won just two of eights and far more trustworthy on their own patch. It’s not a long trip for the Pilgrims, but they may come away empty handed.

Port Vale vs Carlisle – Port Vale Win

Vale are very effective in Burslem although their propensity to draw has become a bit of an issue. The hosts are very well-organised under John Askey and it’s testament to the former Macc boss that his side are yet to be beaten on their own patch. Carlisle, who have just sacked Steven Pressley don’t look like the side to end that unbeaten sequence with the Cumbrians generally struggling on their travels this season. A 2-1-5 record on the road isn’t good enough and although sacking a manager sometimes improves a teams fortunes, it seems unlikely that it will have an immediate effect in this contest.

Walsall vs Cambridge – Walsall Win

Walsall have been terrible this season and backing them at the Bescott is a dangerous business. However, they were rampant in the EFL Trophy in midweek and although it’s a largely meaningless competition, it can sometimes just help a team gain momentum. Josh Gordon will be rarely to go after scoring a hat-trick on Tuesday night and the frontman will be eager to find the net in back-to-back games. The majority of Walsall’s home defeats have come by a single goal and it won’t take too much to turn things around. Mid-table Cambridge have failed to win any of their last three away matches and this looks like the ideal opportunity for the Saddlers to return to winning ways.
