National League Winner Tips 2022/23 – Back this 8/1 Shot to Top the Table

National League winner tips and odds

With the new National League season starting next month we’ve cast our eye over the team’s looking to make the step back into the Football League and picked out a National League winner tip.

Who are the favourites to win the National League?

  • Wrexham – 6/4
  • Chesterfield – 8/1
  • Notts County – 10/1
  • Solihull Moors – 11/1
  • Oldham – 16/1
  • Dagenham & Redbridge – 16/1
  • Southend – 20/1

All odds with bet365 and correct at the time of writing.

There’s no doubting that Hollywood-owned Wrexham will again be the bookies favourites to win automatic promotion, but at a skinny 6/4 there’s no value whatsoever in a gruelling 46-game league season.

Stockport County took the plaudits in 2021/22 by winning the league while Grimsby Town’s terrific end-of-season momentum saw them bounce back from relegation from the EFL at the first attempt through the play-offs.

Notts County, last season’s play-off losers Solihull Moors, Oldham, Dagenham & Redbridge and Southend will all fancy their chances of being in the mix in what is one of the most competitive-looking National League seasons for many a year.

Spireites can land a 9/1 National League winner

The value team to win promotion in our eyes is Chesterfield following a busy summer of recruitment at the Technique Stadium.

After losing in the play-offs for a second successive campaign, experienced boss Paul Cook has opted to shake things up as he aims to get the Spireites back in the Football League following a five-year absence.

Cook wanted to bring in some ‘young and hungry’ players to freshen up the Spireites squad and all nine of the club’s new arrivals are in their 20s.

The Chesterfield boss has been true to his word which should ensure the Spireites have got plenty of pace, energy and athleticism in the side.

Left-backs Branden Horton, 21, and Bailey Clements, 21, right-back Ryheem Sheckleford, 25, central defender Joe Cook, 22, and central midfielder Darren Oldaker, 23, have all come in.

Ollie Banks has sealed a return to the Spireites as well, while Michael Gyasi, 22, has signed from King’s Lynn Town, but perhaps the most significant signing is Albanian Under-21 star Armando Dobra, 21, who has arrived from League One Ipswich Town.

Dobra has all the makings of being a big hit with the fans and capped a fine individual display with a goal in the recent 2-0 friendly win against Matlock Town.

Unlocking defences and scoring goals won’t be difficult for Chesterfield this season with the talent at their disposal.

Kabongo Tshimanga is back training after his serious injury and Danny Rowe (health issue) had an operation earlier this summer. But if the prolific frontman is anything like fully fit then the defences will be quaking in their boots after his performances of last season.

Tshimanga was topping the National League scoring charts with 25 goals when he suffered a fractured leg and a dislocated ankle against Weymouth towards the end of February.

Having him back will be a huge boost to the Spireites while manager Cook and his background staff will know all of the club’s new arrivals inside out and that is all that matters ahead of the big kick-off.

National League Winner Tip

CHESTERFIELD are 8/1 with bet365 to win the National League with bet365 (quarter odds first three places) and that looks fantastic value in context of the title race.
