Premier League Fantasy Football Captain Tips for Double Gameweek 24

Fantasy Football tips

Liverpool’s double gameweek and record-breaking form makes their FPL assets impossible to overlook this week.

But which player should you have as your DGW24 captain this week? We have a look at the pros and cons between Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold below and pick which one of the three should be your captain for double gameweek 24.

Option 1 – Mo Salah (£12.4m) vs Wolves & West Ham

A late counterattack against Manchester United lead to Salah’s 11th league goal of the season. The Egyptian has now delivered 16 attacking returns and 15 bonus points this season.

Salah has scored or assisted in each of his last three and has returned in 14 of his 20 league starts. Salah also has penalty duties to further boost his appeal.

Of the three captaincy options selected this week, no one has fewer owners than Salah. Surprisingly, the Egyptian is owned by under 30% of FPL managers ahead of the first double gameweek of the season.

Option 2 – Sadio Mané (£12.4m) vs Wolves & West Ham

Mané may not have scored in either of his last two but African Player of the Year remains ahead of Salah for goal contributions. 11 goals, seven assists and 18 bonus points help put Mané 13 points clear of Salah this season.

The former Southampton man has produced attacking returns in 13 of his 21 starts, fairing slightly worse than Salah. However, Mané has produced to attacking returns or more on five occasions, once more than his Egyptian teammate.

It was Mané who scored the only goal of the game last time Liverpool faced Wolves, delivering an 11-point haul.

Option 3 – Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.6m) vs Wolves & West Ham

Neither Salah nor Mané can match Alexander-Arnold’s 24-point return in Gameweek 19. The Liverpool fullback in well on track to break his own assist record in the Premier League, having already laid on 11 league goals.

TAA has added two goals and 13 bonus points to rivals his attacking teammates’ returns. Seven consecutive clean sheets has boosted Alexander-Arnold’s tally to eight for the season and leaves him just five points behind Salah’s current total FPL points.

A big part of Alexander-Arnold’s appeal are his set-piece duties. The England right-back assisted Virgil van Dijk with a corner in Gameweek 23 and has his share of direct free kicks.

Wolves have been in good goal-scoring form, but Liverpool were able to keep them at bay as recently as Gameweek 20. A fixture against West Ham also looks capable of delivering clean sheet points.

Liverpool Man United tips

Each option has a lot going for them but we’re backing Mo Salah to continue his recent good form.

Add to this the fact that Salah has less ownership than Sadio Mane and it means that if you do have Salah in your team, you could get an edge on your league rivals if the Egyptian scores points.
