Premier League Fantasy Football Tips for Gameweek 17

Fantasy Football tips

There’s a lot of new names making our Premier League Fantasy Football Tips this week and we take a look at some cut-price options to look out for as well a certain premium option.

With favourable fixtures for a lot of the high-ownership FPL players this weekend there will be some big decisions to make for managers. However, with Liverpool’s upcoming World Club Championship commitment, one of two more of their players could get a rest this weekend at home to Watford. Sadio Mane didn’t play a minute last week so he’s expected to start the game though.

Read our FPL Captains advice for gameweek 17.

FPL Goalkeepers and Defenders Tips

Not the most exciting choice but a solid option for anyone still holding on to their wild card. David Martin (4.0m) has each of The Hammers’ last three and is expected to keep his place until Fabianski’s return from injury next year.

Liverpool’s defensive injuries mean that Joe Gomez (5.1m) looks likely to partner van Dijk against Watford. He may be the cheapest route into the Reds’ backline, but Liverpool have kept just one clean sheet in nine and have a blank Gameweek around the corner so it might be better to shy away from the Liverpool players for GW17. Leicester have a home tie against Norwich so they’ll expect to keep a clean sheet and Chelsea are at home to Bournemouth, however, Rudiger could be back into the side so Tomori is unlikely to return to the starting 11 even if he is back from injury.

FPL Midfielders Tips

Four blanks from his last six games have put some FPL managers off Kevin De Bruyne (10.2m). Man City have struggled in recent weeks but a trip to The Emirates could be profitable. Arsenal, despite winning, still have glaring issues that could be exploited by the Belgian.

Far from a guaranteed starter, Nabi Keita (5.8m) is still worth taking a look at. A goal and an assist in his first league start this season was followed up with another goal in the Champions League against Salzburg in midweek. The Mali international may become an interesting prospect but no game in GW18 is enough to put you off.

A goal in each of his last three matches propels Jonjo Shelvey (5.1m) into our thinking. Shelvey now has four returns in his last six and is available for a cut-price 5.1m ahead of games with Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Someone who is firmly out of FPL manager’s minds is Ryan Fraser (6.9m). One of last season’s FPL heroes, Fraser has struggled for returns this season. His place in the side isn’t guaranteed ahead of a game at Stamford Bridge.

Leicester players will once again be popular and James Maddison moved further up the FPL rankings last weekend with a goal and assist. Mason Mount has only given one return in the last six gameweeks but a home match with Bournemouth looks a good opportunity to put that right.

FPL Forwards Tips

It’s now five in a row for Danny Ings (6.3m). The Southampton forward has scored in eight of his last ten games. He is a great budget choice with West Ham and Villa up next.

In from the cold and back with a bang for Kelechi Iheanacho (5.7m). The former Manchester City striker has returned double-figure hauls in both Premier League appearances with two goals and two assists in 91 minutes of action. Norwich are up next for Leicester.

Wesley (5.8m) has failed to score or assist in his last eight games since his 14-points at Norwich. The fixtures are looking kinder but there are better choices in the Villa midfield.

Tottenham have a favourable run of fixtures coming up so Harry Kane has to come into people’s thoughts. He scored twice last weekend and could be a player to bring in if you were thinking of removing one of the premium midfielders such as Raheem Sterling or Kevin De Bruyne.
