Premier League Fantasy Football Captain Advice for Gameweek 25

Fantasy Football tips

Following on from the double gameweek, we have a return to a more balanced selection of potential captains. The current top three are all represented in our shortlist for Gameweek 25.

With Mane an injury doubt for the match with Southampton, Salah could take centre stage and Jamie Vardy is back in the Leicester side after his injury wasn’t as bad as first feared. Man City play Tottenham but their main players such as Sterling, Aguero and De Bruyne all need consideration.

Option 1 – Mo Salah (12.4m) vs Southampton

With Sadio Mané likely to miss this game, Mo Salah is the standout attacking option for the Reds. The Egyptian has hit double figures for points in three of his last seven, excluding the double gameweek. At the time of writing, Liverpool have not failed to score in any league fixture this season. Salah with have to carry the goalscoring burden with his African counterpart unlikely to be fit.

However, Southampton have been in excellent form in recent weeks, surging up to ninth in the table. Since Gameweek 19 they have kept clean sheets against Tottenham, Chelsea and Crystal Palace. Salah failed to score or assist in his visit to St Mary’s and it could be equally difficult this time around.

Option 2 – Jamie Vardy (9.9m) vs Chelsea

Vardy was withdrawn early in Leicester’s 4-1 win over West Ham after suffering an injury. On the face of it, that’s now eight points from the last six gameweeks for the former England international. In reality, Vardy has played less than three and a half games, one of which was against the unbeaten leaders and come out of it with an assist. It’s fair to say that Vardy’s form has dipped since his incredibly consistent scoring streak, but Vardy is still the league’s top scorer.

Chelsea’s defence has been far from solid for some time and could offer Leicester and Vardy plenty of opportunities. The game finished in a 1-1 draw last time around and it’s unlikely Chelsea sill fair any better defensively this time around.

Option 3 – Kevin De Bruyne (10.6m) vs Tottenham

Manchester City face Tottenham in Gameweek 25 and Kevin De Bruyne is top of this list for captaincy. The Belgian has been Man City’s stand out player and stands a good chance of winning the PFA Player of the Year if he can keep up his remarkable consistency.

De Bruyne has scored seven and assisted 17(!) from his 23 league starts. Eight of those assists have come in his last nine league games with three goals to boot.

Tottenham away looks like a tough fixture on paper but Spurs have been in poor form of late. The return of Hugo Lloris will no doubt bring some much-needed defensive solidity, but it is unlikely to be enough to keep out Manchester City.

Recommended Captain for Gameweek 25

We’re opting for Kevin De Bruyne to orchestrate a Manchester City win and continue on his path to breaking the Premier League assist record. He has been fantastic all season and continues to pick up points, whether it be goals or assists.
