Reece James hands Chelsea fans a major injury boost

Reece James Chelsea

Marking their return to Premier League action this weekend, Chelsea skipper Reece James has handed fans around Stamford Bridge a major injury boost.

‘I haven’t felt this good in a long time’

While Chelsea might still be dealing with a public injury crisis behind the scenes at Stamford Bride, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have certainly been handed a welcomed boost.

Although James might have continued to struggle with some extended injury issues this season, the England international appears to be back and firing on all cylinders.

Starting in each of Chelsea’s final three appearances prior to November’s international break, James will be hoping to use his recent stability as a platform to build on.

With Chelsea set to make their Premier League return this weekend, the Blues’ homegrown superstar has given a positive update on his current fitness and the lessons he has learned from his previous issues.

“I haven’t felt this good in a long time. I’m sure, I definitely felt my strength and fitness building up again.”

“My body gave me a warning, but I didn’t listen in the part. I’m more aware now when something is screaming, slow down a bit.”

Maatsen keeping his options open

Although Chelsea might be excited to have their influential skipper back to full fitness, it appears that another Blues defender could be heading for the Stamford Bridge exit.

While the Chelsea hierarchy might have made it clear that they wanted to keep hold of Ian Maatsen over the summer, the former Burnley loanee has struggled to find any kind of first-team action under Pochettino.

Yet to make a single Premier League start under the ex-Tottenham boss, it has been reported that the 21-year-old has plenty of admirers waiting in the wings.

With the January transfer window fast approaching on the horizon, it has been sugared that Maatsen is keeping his options open and could be tempted by a permanent move away from SW6.

Although Chelsea might be excited to make a return from November’s international break this weekend, the Blues certainly face a stern examination when they travel to St. James’ Park.
