Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou handed major double injury blow

While Tottenham might have continued to gain a string of plaudits since they appointed Ange Postecoglou over the summer, fans around north London have been hit with a major double injury blow.  

Micky van de Ven not expected to feature until the New Year

While Tottenham’s Premier League unbeaten run might have come to an abrupt end thanks to their action-packed 4-1 loss against Chelsea on Monday night, some are still tipping Spurs as a genuine title contender this season. Enjoying what has been a stellar rise since they welcomed Postecoglou to north London over the summer, Spurs’ new recruits have continued to play a vital role in Tottenham’s stellar start to the new campaign. However, watching both James Maddison and Micky van de Ven suffer their own respective blows against Chelsea earlier in the week, Postecoglou has been hit with a major injury headache. Appearing in real discomfort after sustaining what appeared to be a long-term hamstring injury, it has been reported that Tottenham have already accepted that the former Wolfsburg defender will not return until the New Year. Richarlison undergoes surgery

While it might be van de Ven’s long-term hamstring blow that will be the most worrying to fans around north London, the Dutch international is not the only first-team star who faces a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Left on the bench during Monday’s 4-1 defeat at home against Chelsea and dealing with a recent groin injury, Richarlison’s recent set-back appears to be worse than first feared. Ahead of their Premier League trip to Wolves this weekend, Tottenham confirmed that the former Everton striker had undergone a successful surgery on Thursday.

“The Brazil international will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, before returning to training in the coming weeks”.

Although Postecoglou might have some serious squad juggling to do ahead of their trip to Wolves on Saturday lunchtime, Spurs will know the importance of claiming an immediate Premier League response.
