Declan Rice offers a rallying cry to his Arsenal teammates

Cruising their way to a route 2-0 Champions League victory against Sevilla on Wednesday night, Declan Rice has offered a rallying cry to his Arsenal teammates.

‘We are Arsenal’

Taking a giant step towards the Champions League knockout stage on Wednesday night thanks to their 2-0 victory against Sevilla, the Gunners have certainly enjoyed their return to Europe’s elite club tournament this season.

Mustering nine points from their four Champions League appearances this year and holding a commanding four-point buffer from slipping out of the top-two in Group B, Arsenal will be desperate to use Wednesday’s performance as a platform to build on.

Left furious last weekend as they slumped to a hugely controversial 1-0 loss away at Newcastle, Mikel Arteta’s young squad opened November in the midst of a minor domestic wobble.

Losing back-to-back appearances against Premier League opposition over the past week, Arsenal’s record-signing has made it clear that the Gunners’ dressing room must realise the club that they are representing.

“We are Arsenal. We can’t be losing three games in a row.”

“Arteta’s made that clear – so we kept persisting to the end and came through.”

Arteta remains hopeful over Saka’s fitness

Although Arsenal might have taken a goat step to the Champions League knockout stage on Wednesday night, there will be growing concerns over Bukayo Saka’s fitness.

With the England international appearing to pick up a couple of knocks and in some discomfort, Arsenal fans know that the 22-year-old has a leading role to play across all fronts this season.

However, while Arteta might have been forced to withdraw Saka in the final few minutes on Wednesday night, the ex-Manchester City coach remains optimistic that there is nothing serious to worry about.

“He had some discomfort but, hopefully, I’m going to assume he’s going to be ok.”

Although Arsenal might be dealing with a mounting injury list in north London, the Gunners should be smelling a golden chance when they welcome relegation scrappers Burnley to the Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
