2021 Epsom Cazoo Derby Preview and Betting Tips: Appleby to foil O’Brien favourites

The recognised Derby trials, on both sides of the Irish Sea, are now a matter of record and, unsurprisingly, have prompted a major shake-up in the ante-post betting market. Now the Derby picture is a little clearer, we’ve exercised due diligence, with regard to the likely contenders, and tried to identify prices that still retain […]

Sunday’s ITV Racing Tips on 1000 Guineas Day from Newmarket, Salisbury and Hamilton

1:50 Newmarket The opener on ITV today is a 1m4f handicap but we only have 6 runners going to post which is slightly underwhelming. All six have a reasonable chance but the one I like here is ZABEEL CHAMPION. He is a typical Mark Johnston horse in the fact he likes to go from the front and […]

Horse Racing Tips: Punchestown Festival Day Five

Of course, it’s 2,000 Guineas Day at Newmarket but, rather conveniently, the last two Grade One races of the week at the Punchestown Festival fall directly either side of the first colts’ Classic. Once again, there’s plenty of Cheltenham Festival form on display, so it’s more a question of sorting the wheat from the wheat […]

ITV Racing Tips for 2000 Guineas Day at Newmarket, Goodwood & Thirsk

1:50 Newmarket The opener on ITV is a handicap over 1m1f known as the Suffolk Stakes. Bright Melody bids to transfer his useful Meydan form from earlier this year back on UK turf and he heads the market. The one I like is BELL ROCK (4/1). This horse made his return here at Newmarket last year […]

Horse Racing Tips: Punchestown Festival Day Three

The Punchestown Festival continues with two more Grade One races, one of which looks a formality for the favourite and one which might not be quite so straightforward. With that in mind, we’ve decided to concentrate our efforts on the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle and unearthed what we believe is a value-for-money selection.   5:25 […]

Horse Racing Tips: 1,000 Guineas Ante-post Preview

In the past decade, Aidan O’Brien has not quite held complete dominion over the 1,000 Guineas. However, with five winners in that period, including four of the last five, and 16 entries this year, including the hot ante-post favourite, Santa Barbara, his grip on the first fillies’ Classic may take some loosening.   O’Brien Bullish […]

Horse Racing Tips: 2,000 Guineas Ante-post Preview

The major Classic trials – the Craven Stakes and, to a lesser extent, the European Free Handicap, at Newmarket, and the Greenham Stakes at Newbury – have shed further light on the 2,000 Guineas picture. The first colts’ Classic is less than two weeks away, so the time is ripe to run the rule over […]
