Germany vs Argentina Predictions and Betting Tips: World Cup flops do battle in Dortmund

German predictions

Germany vs Argentina predictions and betting tips for tonight’s international friendly match in Dortmund. Both sides had a poor World Cup in Russia and a first title with his country still illudes Lionel Messi after his side could only finish 3rd in the Copa America this summer.

The Barcelona man is once again out of the Argentina set up so Paulo Dybala is the most recognised forward player in this squad. He has never really fired for his country and it is amazing to think a squad with the likes of Messi, Aguero, Higuain and Dybala at their disposal in recent years have failed to win a major trophy. Germany are another side in transition and crashed out the World Cup in the group stages – their young squad have started to turn results around though ahead of Euro 2020.

Germany vs Argentina Match Preview – 09/10/19 International Friendly

These nations have six World Cup wins between them, but in recent years they have had little to shout about. At the 2018 World Cup, Germany didn’t even get out of their group and Argentina scraped past what looked like a weak group before losing to France in the quarter-finals.

Joachim Löw is still in charge of Germany and has built up a new young squad, even 90-cap Manuel Neuer’s place is at risk with Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen in goal for this one. The likes of in-form Serge Gnabry and Freiburg forward Luca Waldschmidt could be tasked with getting the goals at the top end of the pitch. With Leroy Sane out long term this is another chance for the younger German players to stake a claim for a place in Low’s Euro 2020 squad as the long serving manager looks to once again rebuild.

Argentina seem to have been in transition since losing the 2014 World Cup final to Germany. Only one player from that team remains here and that is Manchester United’s Macros Rojo.  Lionel Messi is serving a three month ban for comments made after the failed Copa America attempt in the summer and it remains to be seen whether he ever returns to the Argentina squad. Angel Di Maria and Sergio Aguero have both been left out.

Germany to see of Argentina’s attacking threat

There is no doubt that Argentia seem to have a nack of producing world class attacking players and even with Aguero, Messi and Higuain not in the squad, manager Lionel Scaloni can still call on Paulo Dybala and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez, who netted a hat-trick in the 4-0 friendly win over Mexico last time out. But it is defence where Argentina always seem to struggle and in Rojo and Otamendi, they have two central defenders who Premier League viewers will know all about. Neither can stay on their feet and neither can defend particularly well in general. That gives us the prediction that Germany will score goals in this match and it should be enough for them to get the win ahead of their vital Euro 2020 qualifier against Estonia in four days time.

The first of our Germany vs Argentina predictions is for Germany to win this match and the best odds for that are 5/6 with Betfred.

Serge Gnabry to continue hot goalscoring form

Timo Werner will miss this game due to a knee injury, so Serge Gnabry will be one of the main goalscoring threats for Germany. The former Arsenal man was the star of the show with Bayern Munich beat Tottenham 7-2 in their recent Champions League fixture, and the winger can get another goal here. He’s scored five goals in five Euro 2020 qualifying matches so far in the campaign and will certainly get chances against this Argentina defence. Germany are likely to play an attacking formation tonight which will see chances at both ends, and we’re hoping Gnabry can get one the end of a couple.

What are the odds for Gnabry to score against Argentina tonight? The best odds for this are 9/5 with Unibet (be aware he is as short as 7/5 with other bookmakers so bet in the right place).

Germany vs Argentina Score Prediction – Germany win 3-1

It would be no surprise at all to see the goals flow in this international friendly tonight. Both teams are without some of their most recognised players and Argentina’s defence looks particularly poor. Despite this, both teams come into the match off the back of good wins last time out – Germany won a vital Euro 2020 qualifier 2-0 in Northern Ireland and Argentina beat Mexico 4-0 in a friendly match, so they’ll be expecting to get more goals tonight. For our final Germany vs Argentina prediction tonight, the bet is going to be a 3-1 Germany victory at odds of 12/1 with Unibet.
