Carabao Cup Quarter-Final Predictions and Betting Tips – 18/12/19

Carabao Cup betting tips

The Carabao Cup’s final three quarter-final matches take place on Wednesday 18th December and I have taken a look at the matches and picked out a betting tip from each game. Read on for my Carabao Cup quarter-final previews and betting tips.

The live TV fixture is Oxford United vs Manchester City but there is also the all Premier League match between Everton and Leicester, and Manchester United’s home game against Colchester United. Man United and Man City look to have easy passages through to the semi-finals but the Everton vs Leicester match looks interesting, with Duncan Ferguson installing a new lease of life into the Toffees since he took temporary charge.

Everton vs Leicester Betting Tip

The first match to focus on is going to be the Goodison Park clash. Leicester’s winning streak was ended by Norwich City at the weekend, and Jamie Vardy’s goalscoring streak was also halted. They now have a tough Carabao Cup quarter-final to navigate. Everton drew at Old Trafford in their last match after leading until the final 10 minutes, and before that they beat Chelsea 3-1 at Goodison Park in Duncan Ferguson’s first game in charge. He has got the team playing with belief and in-front of a sell out Goodison Park crowd, his parting gift to the Everton fans might be a semi-final place.

Leicester have been fantastic so far this season though and are currently second in the Premier League table. With the Christmas fixtures coming up it will be interesting to see what team Brendan Rodgers puts out, but he should play his strongest 11 in what will be a tricky tie. For my Carabao Cup betting tip on this game, I’m going for the match to be a draw in the 90 minutes.

What are the odds for Everton vs Leicester to be a draw in 90 minutes?

As an extra bet, have a small wager on Everton to win the match on penalties. There is no extra-time in the Carabao Cup matches so if the game is a draw after 90 minutes, it will go straight to penalties. Leicester have already needed one penalty shoot-out this season against Newcastle. Everton to win on penalties is 11/2.

Manchester United vs Colchester United Betting Tip

This should be an easy win for Manchester United, but nothing seems to be easy for Ole Gunner Solskjaer’s side this season. They were held to a 1-1 draw against Everton at the weekend to bring to a halt an impressive run of wins against Tottenham, Manchester City and AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League. Ole will make a few changes to his starting 11 for this match and that should see youngster Mason Greenwood get another chance to impress. He scored from the bench against Everton on Sunday and if he starts the match, he will be the first goalscorer tip for this game.

Colchester have only lost one of their last five matches coming into this tie and have already beaten Crystal Palace and Tottenham on penalties to get this far. Do not underestimate the League Two side in this match, but for betting purposes, Mason Greenwood is the selection. Just check the starting line-up before placing your bet.

Oxford United vs Manchester City Betting Tip

The last Carabao Cup quarter final betting tip comes from Oxford vs Manchester City and this should be an easy victory for City, no matter what team Pep Guardiola chooses to start with. His side have already won 3-0 against Preston and 3-1 against Manchester City and with the busy Christmas fixtures coming up, he will want to put this match to bed and play out the rest of the tie. That will probably lead to a fast start by Manchester City. Oxford United have been having a great season in League One. but they’ve failed to win or score in their last two league matches now. They have already seen off West Ham 4-0 in this competition though so will be no pushovers for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Even though Pep will make changes to the line-up for this game, it should still be a comfortable win and with the expectation of a quick start I’m going to use one of the more obscure betting markets and bet on Man City to be leading after 15 minutes. The best odds for this are 21/10 at Coral.
