German vs Spain: Germans to edge past Spain

Desipte not having their Bayern Munich players available, Germany have selected a strong squad for these Nations League matches and we’re betting on them to beat Spain narrowly on Thursday. Spain coach Luis Enrique has said he has picked the best possible squad for these matches but the likes of Alvaro Morata and Igor Aspas have been left out, leaving new Leeds striker Rodrigo the likely starter up front. In the Euro 2020 qualifying, both nations were comfortable winners of their group but Spain only managed away draws at Sweden and Norway and narrowly beat Romania 2-1. They are a much better side on hole soil. Germany were ruthless towards the end of Euro 2020 qualifying – they won their last four matches, scoring 15 and only conceding once. Their last game was a 6-1 home win against Northern Ireland and a repeat of that performance would be enough to beat Spain in Stuttgart. Timo Werner is likely to lead the line for Germany and his likely teammate at Chelsea next season, Kai Havertz, could also start. Lowe will be missing some of his first choice defence though following Bayern Munich’s Champions League final win, so the best bet for this match could be Germany to win and both teams to score. At the time of writing, the best odds for this are 15/4 with bet365. GERMANY TO WIN AND BTTS – 15/4 with bet365.

Finland vs Wales: Home side the value bet

Wales finished their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign strongly with wins against Azerbaijan and Hungary securing their place at the delayed tournament next summer. However, they have been hit by a couple of big ommissions for this Nations League tie with Finland. Aaron Ramsey has pulled out of the squad along with David Brooks. Sam Vokes and Neil Taylor are also missing and it is hard to see how Gareth Bale will be match sharp after playing barely any football for Real Madrid in recent months. Despite some promising youngsters in the Welsh squad, a quickly improving Finland side are a good bet on the draw no bet market here. They have booked their place at Euro 2020 and won six of their 10 qualifying matches. Their only defeat on home soil came against Italy and they won their other four games without conceding a goal. In the last Nations League, Finland also performed very well at home, winning all three matches to nil. Teemu Pukki will once again be the main goalscoring threat for Finland and with their strong home form, the betting tip for this match is a Finland win (draw no bet) at odds of 5/4 with Betfred. FINLAND TO WIN (DRAW NO BET) – 5/4 with Betfred.

Ukraine vs Switzerland: Bet on goals in Lviv

Ukraine failed to qualify for the last World Cup in Russia but they seem to have gone through a transitional phase and are starting to improve again. They booked their place at Euro 2020 with a strong qualifying campaign and boasted a 100% home record in those games. They were also good in the first Nations League tournament, earning themselves promotion from League B with wins over Czech Republic and Slovakia. Switzerland are also safely into Euro 2020 and in the last Nations League tournament, they made a real statement by beating Belgium 5-2 in their final group game to take them into the semi-finals where they lost to Portugal. They were eventually beaten on penalties by England in the third placed play-off but manager Vladimir Petkovic would have been very happy with their campaign, they now start to look towards the delayed Euro 2020 tournament next summer but face a tough Nations League group. Spain and Germany are also in with these two teams so this match vs Ukraine could be one to decide who is relegated, even at this early stage. Benfica striker Haris Seferovic has scored 18 international goals and he can help Switzerland land our both teams to score tip for this match. BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE – 10/13 with 888Sport.

Bulgaria vs Republic of Ireland: Winning start for the new manager

It is a new era for the Republic of Ireland following the appointment of Stephen Kenny as manager. These sides met in Dublin last year and Ireland won 3-1, despite missing some of their best players so they can certainly expect to get off to a flying start in the Nations League this week. Bulgaria finished second in their group last time around so have moved up into League B now. However, their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign was really poor, winning just one of their eight matches and suffering heavy defeats to England (4-0 and 6-0). They will be hoping for better under new manager Georgi Dermendzhiev, who got off to a good start with a 1-0 win over Czech Republic in their final Euro 2020 qualifying match. Ireland made it into the Euro 2020 qualifying play-off matches and this will be seen as a good warm up as they prepare to face Slovakia in the crucial qualifier next month. New Tottenham signing Matt Doherty will join the likes of Seamus Coleman and Shane Long in the squad and in our betting tips, the Irish look a good bet to win a closely fought game in Sofia. REP OF IRELAND TO WIN – 11/8 with Betfred.

Russia vs Serbia: Russian’s to take three points

Russia caught the imagination of football fans all over the world with their run to the quarter-finals of their own World Cup in 2018. They knocked out Spain on penalties in the last 16 before eventually losing out to Croatia on penalties in the last eight. Stanislav Cherchesov’s side have already booked their place at Euro 2020 thanks to a good qualifying campaign which saw them finish second to Belgium. Serbia will need to go through the play-offs if they are to book their place at Euro 2020, but have enjoyed a decent run of form in recent matches. Since losing 4-2 at home to Portugal, they have won four and drawn one of their games. However, their defence looks weak and the Eagles have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 10 competitive matches. That could be enough to see Russia pick up the three points here and at odds of 7/5, they look a good bet to do so. RUSSIA TO WIN – 7/5 with bet365.
