Reasons for Plymouth vs Bristol Rovers Predictions

  • Bristol Rovers are 10 matches unbeaten going into this FA Cup replay and they’ll fancy their chances of winning, despite being away from home.
  • League Two Plymouth are strong at home though, they have won their last four league matches at Home Park.
  • These sides have also met in the EFL Trophy this season and that game also finished in a 1-1 draw before Plymouth won on penalties.

Little to separate the sides once again

Having already drawn 1-1 twice this season, these sides have another meeting on Tuesday night and I’m predicting another close encounter. Plymouth are in great form at home and Bristol Rovers are in great form away from home. With the away side being a division higher, we’re set for yet another even clash between these two. Plymouth have only lost once in their last five matches on home soil though, and that came in the EFL Cup against the Chelsea youngsters. They’ve won their three League One matches in that time and kept a clean sheet in three of those games.

Bristol Rovers edged past Bromley away from home in the last round and have kept that good away form going. They beat Ipswich 2-1 away from home in League One on Saturday and have to be taken very seriously when looking at our FA Cup predictions for this game. They’ve won in six of their last seven away matches now to leave themselves in fourth spot in League One, just two points away from the automatic promotion places.

It would be absolutely no surprise to see another draw between these two sides so the first of my Plymouth vs Bristol Rovers predictions is going to be a draw after 90 minutes. The current odds for the draw are 12/5 with bet365.

Jonson Clarke-Harris to find the net again

Bristol Rovers’ good run at the start of this season has a lot to do with the form of striker Jonson Clarke-Harris. He registered the winning goal in the 1-0 win at Bromley in the last round and has scored eight times in League One already this season. The 25-year-old joined from Coventry in the January transfer window and scored 11 goals in 16 games in the second half of the 2018/19 season. He’s continued that form in this campaign and already has 10 goals to his name in 17 appearances.

The odds for Clarke-Harris to score in the FA Cup second-round replay are 6/4 with bet365 and that goes in as our anytime goalscorer tip for this fixture.

Bet on another 1-1 draw between these sides

As mentioned, there have already been two 1-1 draws between these teams this season and it would be no shock to anyone if it happened again. Plymouth don’t tend to concede many goals at Home Paek, but Bristol Rovers are in great form on the road and should get on the scoresheet. It will be interesting to see if both managers go full strength for this game as they are both in with a good shout of at least the play-offs. The last thing the managers will want is extra-time and penalties here but given the form of both of them, that’s exactly what might be needed to separate the teams.

The last of my Plymouth vs Bristol Rovers predictions for this FA Cup fixture is a 1-1 draw and the odds for that are 11/2 with bet365.
