Premier League Betting Tips Review for the Weekend (26/09-28-09)

Premier League betting tips

Each weekend we will have Premier League betting tips from Fabio (@FabioDuarte) and in a new feature, we’re going to take a look back at how his selections performed over the weekend just gone.

Brighton and Manchester United kicked off the weekend action with United eventually winning the match 3-2, but it was not without controversy. Everton kept up their 100% record with a win at Crystal Palace and on Sunday we saw two big shocks – Leicester went to Manchester City and won 5-2 before Wolves were thrashed 4-0 at West Ham. Champions Liverpool overcame Arsenal 3-1 on the Monday Night Football which followed a convincing defeat for Fulham at home to Aston Villa.

Brighton vs Manchester United

Both Teams to Score – 4/5 with Bet365.

Brighton have started the Premier League season strongly. They looked about as good as any side can whilst losing 3-1 to Chelsea and translated their impressive showing into three points against Newcastle. Graham Potter has his side playing some attractive football with Tariq Lamptey the standout performer so far.

Manchester United had a chastening experience against Crystal Palace but still managed to find the back of the net. They’ll be expected to win against Brighton but it would be a surprise if they have it all their own way. If the Seagulls continue their strong start, they should find a way past David de Gea.

Things got off to a winning start on Saturday with this both teams to score tip.

Crystal Palace vs Everton

Everton to Win – 11/10 with PaddyPower

Everton fans will be in a buoyant mood after back-to-back wins to kick off the campaign. The Toffees have performed well in wins over Tottenham and West Brom with new signing James Rodriguez catching the eye. Dominic Calvert-Lewin has already bagged four goals, including a first senior hat-trick.

Crystal Palace have remarkably taken six points from games against Southampton and Manchester United. Roy Hodgson has got his game plan spot on in both fixtures, utilising the Eagles threat on the counter to devastating effect. Despite this, Everton were able to get the better of a Spurs side content to concede possession and have enough quality to make it three from three here.

Everton pulled off a hard-fought 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace to pick up Fabio’s second winning Premier League tip of the weekend.

West Brom vs Chelsea

Timo Werner to Score 2+ Goals – 10/3 with Bet365

Chelsea’s new striker may be yet to score but there is every chance he bags a double here. Werner has received plenty of plaudits for his sharpness early on and a goal is surely round the corner. The German international has already won two penalties and should have more opportunities against West Brom.

The Baggies have conceded eight goals in two games against Leicester and Everton. A Jamie Vardy brace was followed by a Dominic Calvert-Lewin hat-trick as West Brom continue to give opposition strikers plenty of chances. Kieran Gibbs’ dismissal further weakens Slavan Bilic’s back line ahead of Werner’s visit.

There was no joy here as Timo Werner still struggled to break his Premier League duck. Chelsea fought back from 3-0 down to draw 3-3.

Burnley vs Southampton

Che Adams to Score Anytime – 3/1 with BetVictor

No player has had more big chances than Che Adams in the opening two rounds of fixtures. That might say more about his quality of finishing than anything else, but it is fair to say Adams has been unfortunate not to find the back of the net yet. The Southampton forward has been getting into good positions and comes up against a depleted Burnley side who shipped four goals to Leicester last week. 3/1 looks like excellent value.

Che Adams didn’t score in the match, but he did play a big part in Southampton’s 1-0 win at Turf Moor.

Sheffield United vs Leeds

Both Teams to Score – 4/5 with William Hill

It’s not often Sheffield United are involved in a BTTS selection but it’s with good reason. The Blades are yet to score but had opportunities against Wolves and a penalty saved versus Aston Villa. They played the latter with ten men for the majority of the game.

Leeds on the other hand have had no trouble scoring, netting three against Liverpool and four against Fulham. Their attack has been matched by their equally porous defence that has conceded seven so far. It’s surely a matter of time before Leeds tighten things up but in the meantime Sheffield United are likely to have gaps to exploit.

This was a poor game in truth and Leeds edged it 1-0 thanks to a late winner from Patrick Bamford.

Tottenham vs Newcastle

Tottenham Clean Sheet – Evens with Paddy Power

Spurs salvaged what was looking like a nightmare start to the campaign with an incredible Son-inspired second-half against Southampton last week. Jose Mourinho will be disappointed with the lack of clean sheets but this next fixture offers a golden opportunity.

Newcastle were toothless against Brighton and failed to create many meaningful opportunities. An injury to Allan Saint-Maximin further reduces their attacking options. If Spurs can deal with long balls up to Andy Carroll, they’ll eliminate a lot of Newcastle threat and can keep Callum Wilson isolated.

How has this bet not won? Tottenham were punished by the ridiculous handball law which seen Callum Wilson score a penalty in injury time.

Manchester City vs Leicester

Manchester City -1 Handicap – 5/6 with Paddy Power

Manchester City’s first-half display against Wolves merited a bigger lead. They let Wolves back into the game in the second half but still ended up winning by a two-goal margin.

Leicester are two for two but have yet to face a top side. Newly-promoted West Brom and a Burnley side hit with injuries have not been the sternest of tests. Manchester City have the ability to roll over any side and look well placed to do that, despite the Foxes 100% record.

The big shock of the weekend was Jamie Vardy’s hat-trick that inspired a big win for Leicester against Manchester City.

West Ham vs Wolves

Wolves to Win – 6/5 with Bet365

It was a poor first-half showing against Manchester City but Nuno Espirito Santo’s half-time team talk appeared to breathe new life into Wolves. In the end they came up short, but this side have shown their quality in the opening two games of the campaign.

West Ham on the other hand, have shown little of that. Their opening weekend defeat to Newcastle was extremely poor but they emerged with some credit in their 2-1 loss to Arsenal. The Hammers defence looks vulnerable – a bad sign when Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence have already combined for a goal in each game.

The second big shock on Sunday was another coupon buster as Wolves lost 4-0 at West Ham. It was a terrible performance from Nuno’s side.

Fulham vs Aston Villa

Both Teams to Score – 4/5 with Bet365

Fulham have already conceded seven goals in the league this season. The Cottagers looked down and out against Leeds last week but managed to pull two goals back to set up a nervy finale, eventually losing 4-3.

Aston Villa played against ten men for almost 80 minutes in their only league game so far. Despite this, they conceded a penalty after being carved open by Sheffield United. Neither side’s defence looks particularly strong and goals are likely.

Fulham were thrashed at home to Aston Villa and Paddy Power reacted by payout out on the South West London club to be relegated after only three games of the season. Scott Parker also shortened in the first Premier League manager to be sacked odds.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Liverpool Over 2.5 Goals – 11/8 with Bet365

Two wins from two for each of these sides marks a positive start to the campaign for Liverpool and Arsenal. The Reds have scored six in games against Leeds and ten-man Chelsea so far. Their record against Arsenal in recent years has been impressive with Mo Salah, in particular, scoring well. A high-scoring game looks likely and backing the Reds provides good value.

A really tough week for bettors was made slightly better by Liverpool’s 3-1 win over Arsenal. This late Jota goal landed our 11/8 Premier League betting tip.
