Norwich vs Wigan Bet Builder Tip, Predictions and Betting Tips

The topsy-turvy Championship season is well and truly underway. The next televised game sees us head to Carrow Road where Norwich take on Wigan in what promises to be a lively match and we’ve picked out our predictions for a bet builder tip. This game sees a relegated side take on a promoted team from last season, and both sides expectations this season will be very different. Canaries fans will be hoping to bounce back to the Premier League straight away, whereas Latics fans will be hoping they can cement their position in this league for another season. Norwich got off to a disappointing start, however, losing 1-0 to Cardiff City on an opening day. Wigan played out a bore draw against local rivals Preston North End, therefore both sides will look for their first win of the season on Saturday. I expect Dean Smith’s men to get the win, and expect it to be quite a tasty game in the process.

Norwich to win

I strongly fancy Norwich to put behind their opening day disappointment and reward their home support with 3 points on Saturday. These sides haven’t faced off often in recent years, but Norwich definitely have the upper hand on Wigan in fixtures in East Anglia, winning the last two fixtures. Norwich are fancied to go back up this year and if that’s going to be the case, they quite simply have to be winning games like this at home. I fancy them to do so comfortably.  

Over 2.5 goals

With neither team scoring on the opening day, this selection may come as a bit of a surprise. There haven’t been many goals in recent fixtures between the two, however, I can see the home side coming out of the traps wanting to prove a point. Norwich have one of the deadliest strikers in the league amongst their ranks in Teemu Pukki, and I can see him getting off the mark this season at home against a weak Wigan side.

This is the selection in the Bet Builder tip I’m very confident is going to land. Norwich skipper Grant Hanley saw red late on against The Bluebirds and Wigan had three yellow cards themselves at home to North End. With the home side likely to dominate possession, I can see Wigan getting frustrated whilst looking to get on the ball themselves. Max Power is the most likely to be carded for them, so I wouldn’t put you off a single on him being booked by referee Matthew Donohue, who has previous of dishing out the cards.  

Teemu Pukki over 0.5 shots on target

I’ve already mentioned this man’s name in many of my pre-season previews, and his record in this league for Norwich speaks for itself. I’m fairly confident he will find himself on the scoresheet this weekend, however, the safe option is for Pukki to at least test Ben Amos in the Wigan goal as a shot on target tip. He’ll look to make amends for last weekend, and will be firing from all angles to get Norwich’s season off the mark.
