France to win

France are the favourites to go on and win the World Cup, becoming the first club to retain their World Cup champion status since Brazil in 1962. The French have been the most impressive team so far at the tournament, with their explosive pace and skill going forward proving very difficult to deal with for opposition defenders. France have won four out of their five games, and I’m backing them to continue their fine form in this one against Morocco. Morocco have been the surprise package of this tournament, but I don’t think they’ll be able to continue against this France team filled with superstars and I think the French will win fairly comfortably.

In the four games France have won at this tournament, there has been more than two goals in each of them, with the French bagging 11 goals so far at this World Cup. Kylian Mbappe is the top scorer in the competition with five goals, with Olivier Giroud join second top scorer with four goals. Morocco have scored five goals and have been defensively strong so far, conceding just one goal, but I think they’ll concede a couple in this one against a France side who score a lot of goals. I think this selection will come in fairly easily.

Roman Saiss will be in for a very tough afternoon against France’s frontline consisting of Giroud, Mbappe, Dembeke and Greizmann among some other difficult opponents. Saiss has already been carded once so far at this World Cuo, and I expect him to pick up another booking in this one. He picked up a card in Morocco’s 0-0 draw with Spain, before they advanced to the quarter-final on penalties. He has picked up a number of cards this season for Besiktas, and Premier League fans will remember him as an aggressive defender from his time at Wolves.
