Reasons for this Weekend’s Football Tips

As Wigan and Luton battle to preserve their Championship status, they have both been among the goals in recent weeks and their clash features in this Saturday BTTS accumulator. The Lancashire coast derby between in-form Fleetwood and neighbours Blackpool is also included while League Two action is also covered. Promotion points are at stake when Cheltenham host Port Vale while fourth-placed Exeter face a difficult afternoon at Walsall with the hosts more than capable of scoring goals.

Wigan vs Luton BTTS

As both teams fight to stay in the Championship for next season, the basement team Luton have won three of their last five fixtures including the defeat of Brentford later last month. The Hatters are also finding some form in front of goal having failed to find the net in just two league games this year. Hosts Wigan are another much-improved team in recent weeks and will be seeking a fourth successive league victory. The Latics have netted in all but one Championship game during 2020 and have recently beaten both Leeds and West Brom.

Fleetwood vs Blackpool BTTS

A midweek 1-0 win at Ipswich allowed Fleetwood to climb into the top six positions in the League One table with the Cod Army unbeaten since mid-January. Ipswich remain the only visiting team to have collected three league points at Highbury this term but local rivals Blackpool will be eager to beat the hosts for a second time this season. The Tangerines won the reverse fixture by a 3-1 scoreline, and despite some mixed results in recent weeks especially on the road, they have failed to score just twice in league action during 2020.

Cheltenham vs Port Vale BTTS

Promotion from League Two is the priority for these two teams prior to their weekend clash, with Cheltenham winning their last six games at Whaddon Road. The Robins have also scored in all but three league fixtures since the beginning of December while visitors Port Vale were unbeaten throughout February. Apart from a 3-0 loss at Swindon back in January, Vale have also netted in every other league game this year, scoring at least twice in their last four matches.

Walsall vs Exeter BTTS

Now clear of any lingering fears of relegation fears from League Two, Walsall have been one of the more entertaining teams this season. The Saddlers have failed to net in just two league fixtures since the beginning of December and their last two matches have finished in 3-2 and 2-2 scorelines. Visitors Exeter claimed a decent 1-1 midweek draw with Crewe as they seek promotion, and they have scored in all but two league matches from the end of November onwards. Both teams have scored in seven of the last eight league games played by Exeter.
