Wednesday’s Carabao Cup Tips
- Newcastle vs Burnley – Under 2.5 goals
- Newport County vs Southampton – Both teams to score
- West Brom vs Arsenal – Over 2.5 goals
Newcastle vs Burnley
It has been a poor start in the Premier League for both of these sides and now we’re going to get the usual changes to the starting line-ups for the League Cup. However, it should still be low scoring. Newcastle lost 2-0 at Aston Villa on Saturday, registering just one shot on target. Burnley have only scored once in their opening two matches and registered six shots on target across their two games so far. This could be a drab affair with not many goals.
Under 2.5 goals (8/11 with SBK)
Newport County vs Southampton
League Two Newport won 1-0 at Tranmere on Saturday, meaning they’ve won three of their last four matches now, including a 1-0 win away at Ipswich in the first round of this competition. Southampton picked up a creditable draw against Manchester United on Sunday but they did lose 3-1 at Everton on the opening weekend of the season. We can expect changes to the Southampton team for this one so both teams to score looks a good bet.

West Brom vs Arsenal
It has been nothing less than a shocking start to the season for Arsenal, and now Mikel Arteta will ask their youngsters to restore some pride against a West Brom side who have made a strong start to life back in the Championship. The Baggies have won three of their four matches so far and scored 11 goals. If they were guaranteed to play their strongest 11 they’d be a good bet to win this match at an attractive 7/1. However, a safer bet looks to be over 2.5 goals at odds of 8/11. It has happened in all of West Brom’s matches so far this season and Arsenal have conceded four in two.
