League One Treble

Doncaster vs Portsmouth – Doncaster Win

Donny have been one of the better sides in League One this season although too many draws have probably prevented Darren Moore’s side from challenging at the top. They play some lovely football with Ben Whiteman orchestrating things in midfield. However, Donny perhaps lack a clinical finisher and without the presence of John Marquis this campaign, they haven’t been able to find the back of the net with any kind of regularity. The aforementioned Marquis is likely to be lining up for Pompey against his former club this weekend, and it’s been a slow start for Portsmouth’s summer signing. The visitors have struggled, and are languishing at the wrong end of the table. The pressure is mounting on Kenny Jackett, and his side only just squeezed past Bolton last weekend. Away from home, they’ve scored just two goals, and have lost three of four. Donny have the confidence coming into this tie and although there are injury worries surrounding Niall Ennis, they should still have enough to take three points at the Keepmoat.

Tranmere vs Shrewsbury – Over 1.5 Tranmere Goals

League One newcomers are going to pick up the majority of their points at home this season, and their form at Prenton Park will be key to them staying up this year. Mickey Mellon’s men haven’t lost here since the opening day of the season when they were defeated 3-2 by Rochdale. Since then, they’ve netted 5-2-2-2 in their home games, and they should be able to continue that sequence against the Shrews. Sam Rickett’s men didn’t play badly last weekend, but still conceded three times to Fleetwood. They’ve conceded seven times on the road, and have picked up just one win. They’ve recently picked up draws with Rotherham and AFC Wimbledon away from home, and they could set up to frustrate the home side. However, Tranmere have a knack of finding a way through in front of their own fans and should have enough to bag at least two.

Rotherham vs Coventry – Coventry Draw No Bet

There’s something not quite right at Rotherham. The Millers are struggling to produce any kind of consistency, and the pressure is beginning to mount on Paul Warne. More reasonable Rotherham fans are likely to give the reluctant boss a bit of time considering his record since taking over at the club, however he must start picking up results soon. This is a tough task for the Millers with in-form Coventry arriving at the New York Stadium on Saturday. The visitors are unbeaten away from home, drawing all four of their matches away from St.Andrews and they will be confident of getting something from this tie. Mark Robins’ young side play some wonderful football, and they can cut opponents open easily. Too many draws have stopped them challenging at the right end of the table, however, this could be the venue of their first away victory of the campaign.
