Sheffield Wednesday vs Wigan – Sheffield Wednesday Win

The Owls were desperately disappointing in midweek, losing 1-0 to Hull and barely creating a chance across the 90 minutes. However, Garry Monk’s side tend to be far better at home, and this is the ideal game to get back on track. Steven Fletcher could return to the side and the Scot has a brilliant record against the Latics. He’s scored eight times against Wigan throughout his career – more than any other side. It may just have been a bad day at the office for the Owls on Tuesday night and they should be able to get back to winning ways here. Wigan’s away form continues to be underwhelming. Paul Cook’s men did battle hard against Fulham last Friday, but they unable to find a way through with the Cottagers running out 2-0 winners. The visitors have lost each of their last two visits to this stadium, and they look set for a long afternoon in South Yorkshire on Saturday.

 

Swansea vs Stoke – Swansea Win

Swansea’s 2-1 victory over Charlton in midweek helped move the Swans to the top of the table, and Steve Cooper’s men will be expected to pick up three points in this fixture. They’ve dropped points at the Liberty recently with their 1-1 draw against Reading proving particularly disappointing. However, the Welsh side were the better side throughout that contest, and should have been 2-3 goals ahead by the time Andy Yiadom lashed home an equaliser. They have won three of their five matches here, and they will come into this tie with plenty of confidence. Stoke lost at home to Huddersfield in midweek, yet Nathan Jones remains in the dugout. If he doesn’t get something from this tie, it’s likely to be curtains for the former Luton boss. He needs his side to put in a top drawer performance. The Potters have played well in recent matches, yet their defence continues to let them down. Jones’ tinkering is clearly not helping matters, and his side are unlikely to find the Swans’ front-line tough to handle.

 

West Brom vs Cardiff – West Brom Win

The Baggies suffered their first defeat of the campaign in midweek as they were downed 1-0 by Leeds. It was a closely fought contest, with Alioski’s low strike proving the difference. WBA have been excellent this season under Slaven Bilic and they should be able to collect three points from this tie. Although they are yet to keep a clean sheet at the Hawthorns, they have scored seven times in their last two home matches, and they should be able to take advantage of a generous Cardiff back-line. The visitors won 3-0 in midweek, although QPR did hit the woodwork twicein that game. They are yet to pick up maximum points on the road with two defeats and three draws so far. They’ve conceded nine times on their travels, and are coming up against a side who have conceded just a single goal in their last two matches. The hosts have score goals from all over the pitch, and they should be able to collect three points in this one.
