Turkey vs Italy Betting Prediction: Who will win?

The start of a major tournament is always hard to predict and Turkey have had some good results in the lead up to the tournament. They are expected to play a few friendlies before the kick-off on 11th June but at the time of writing, they have beaten Norway, the Netherlands and Russia in their last five matches across the Nations League and World Cup 2022 qualifying.

Having said that, Italy are also in great form going into the tournament and have the remarkable record of winning five matches in a row 2-0. In the 11 matches since Euro 2020 was originally postponed, Italy are unbeaten.

It will be interesting to see who starts up front for the Italian side this summer but with home advantage in Rome, it is hard to see past them getting the three points here. We’ll talk about our anytime goalscorer bet further down this preview but for an opening day selection, Italy are the pick here.

Anytime Goalscorer Tip: Ciro Immobile

Ciro Immobile is having a great end to the domestic season with Lazio and he will be looking to force himself into the Italy starting 11 for the Euro 2020 opening match against Italy. The 31 year old has scored 19 goals this season in Serie A and also enjoyed starts against both Northern Ireland and Lithuania in recent matches.

At the moment, Roberto Mancini will find it hard not to pick the veteran striker ahead of the likes of Belotti and fellow veteran El Shaarawy, who has returned to Roma after two years playing in China.

For Turkey, Cenk Tosun would be the obvious choice for an anytime scorer bet but he is currently suffering from a serious knee injury. That will reduce the Turkey threat greatly 35-year-old Burak Yilmaz looks set to lead the line following a 15 goal season for Lille in France. He’s also scored four times in three World Cup qualifying matches.

Correct Score Tip: Italy to win 2-0

Going into the summer, Italy had won five matches in a row by this scoreline and we’re betting on them to do the same again for the opening match of Euro 2020. Their defence has been rock solid and although they still have two friendlies to play ahead of the tournament, Turkey will struggle to break this team down.

A good start is always vital to a major tournament and Italy can get exactly that with three points in their own capital city.

You can get odds of 11/2 with bet365 for Italy to beat Turkey 2-0 and that’s the first of our correct score tips for this summer’s European Championships.
