2020 Queen Mother Champion Chase Tips and Latest Odds – Who will win the day 2 feature?

Champion Chase 2020 tips

The Betway Champion Chase is the feature race on day 2 of the Cheltenham Festival with the race due off at 3.30pm. It looks set to be one of the best races of Cheltenham 2020 and you can see our each-way Champion Chase betting tip below.

The Festival is just around the corner and the Betway Champion Chase looks like it could be an absolute thriller as ten-time Grade One winner Altior aims to win this for a third consecutive year. Nicky Henderson’s superstar is unbeaten at Cheltenham and is without a doubt one of the all-time greats. He can be backed at a fair 2/1 but I’d certainly take a chance on a outsider at a bigger price.

Champion Chase Tips 2020

Tingle Creek winner, Defi Du Seuil (9/4) has beaten the useful Un De Sceaux twice this season and should give Altior a thing or two to think about. Meanwhile, Irish Raider, Chacun Pour Soi (5/2) ran a cracker to beat stablemate Min in the Dublin Chase earlier this month so Willie Mullins will certainly be confident in springing a suprise.

In the current odds the bookies are struggling to split Defi Du Seuil and Altior, with them flip-flopping between 2/1 and 9/4 at most firms. Chacun Pour Soi is solid at around 5/2 with a few bookies going 11/4. You can be sure that if there are any positive vibes out of the Willie Mullins camp about Chacun, that the Irish money will arrive and his price will shorten.

All three horses have a lively chance but there isn’t much each-way value in any of them for an ante-post bet, so I’ll take a chance on Paul Nicholls trained Dynamite Dollars at a massive 25/1. He ran a solid race to finish only three and half lengths behind Altior in the Game Spirit Chase which was his first run in a year and should show up at The Festival in better shape after blowing off the cobwebs. He already has a Grade One and a couple of Grade Two’s to his name so I could certainly see him putting it up to the big guns.

Selection: Dynamite Dollars @ 25/1 with bet365.

Defi De Seuil vs Altior vs Chacun Pour Soi

With a month to go before the Cheltenham Festival, the clash everybody wants to see is Chacun Pour Soi vs Defi De Seuil vs Altior. If all three of these horses take their chance in the Champion Chase, we will have one of the races of the 4 days. Altior is the reigning Champion and bounced back to winning ways in his prep run following the only defeat of his career to Cyrname over a longer trip than now thought suitable. Last week we looked at whether Altior could win the Champion Chase again and the answer was a resounding yes.

Altior his his customary flat spot in this race, but scooted away from the last to win a shade cosily. He now faces his biggest ever test in the Champion Chase, when he comes head to head with Defi De Seuil.

Defi was taken out of the Ryanair Chase by trainer Philip Hobbs at the latest declaration stage, so we’re all set for the big clash which will form a big part of our Cheltenham day 2 tips this year.

The JP McManus trained superstar out battled Un De Sceaux in the Tingle Creek at Sandown in December and confirmed that form when winning the rematch at Ascot in January. Now he has to take on Altior and the Irish raider in the Champion Chase of 2020.

The third horse at the head of the betting odds for the Champion Chase 2020 is Irish raider Chacun Pour Soi. The Rich Ricci owned horse beat stable companion Min at the Dublin Racing Festival and now looks set to make it a three-way battle at Cheltenham over 2 miles. He will need to come on for that run at Leopardstown and there are questions as to how strong the form is on a flat track. There are still unknowns about Chacun Pour Soi but under the watchful eye of Willie Mullins, you can expect him to be in top condition ahead of the race on Wednesday 11th March.
