Derby County vs Millwall Predictions and Betting Tips: Championship Preview

Derby County vs Millwall predictions and betting tips for this Wednesday night championship fixture on February 20th with an anytime goalscorer tip and goals prediction included.

Frank Lampard’s Derby suffered a setback seven days ago when they dropped points against Ipswich. The Rams were in the lead for a large portion of that game, but conceded late on. Their play-off push is still very much on, despite being passed by Bristol City. Their home form is very impressive, with just two defeats all season, and they should be able to add to their tally here. Millwall have been poor travellers all season, but they did manage to claim a victory in the FA Cup this weekend, courtesy of another Murray Wallace strike. Only Wigan, Millwall and Rotherham are weaker on the road, and Derby should be able to take advantage of that. See our Derby County vs Millwall predictions below.

Derby vs Millwall Predictions

Derby desperately need three points from this tie. They need to prevent Bristol City and Middlesbrough from pulling away in the hunt for the play-off spots. The Rams have suffered from inconsistencies all season, and injuries haven’t helped. Mason Mount will miss his fifth consecutive games, but could be back at the weekend, whilst Tom Lawrence is also a doubt. Nevertheless, they should have enough quality to collect three points from this fixture. Jack Marriott returns to the squad, and that is a huge boost for the club. Derby have won their last two home matches, against Hull and Reading, but Millwall will not be a soft touch. The Lions have been poor on the road this campaign, but they’ve avoided defeat on just five occasions away from the Den this season. They’ve conceded just twice in their last four matches, and they’ve already seen off Derby earlier in the campaign. They should keep it firm, but their lack of threat in the final third is a major concern. Lampard’s men should have too much going forward and they should be able to take all three points here. Derby Win is the first of our Championship betting tips for Wednesday night.

Derby vs Millwall Under/Over Betting Tips

Millwall snuck through to the next round of the FA Cup with a narrow 1-0 victory on Saturday and defensively, they’ve been sound in recent weeks. At the other end of the pitch, they’ve scored just once in five matches, and they could struggle to find a way through once again. Derby were very professional against Hull and Reading, bagging twice in each of those two matches and it could be a similar performance here. A low-scoring game is a possibility, but 2-3 goals seems like a realistic option. It would have landed when the pair met earlier in the campaign, in six of Derby’s last seven home matches and in each of their last three games at this stadium. 2-3 Goals is the second of our Derby vs Millwall predictions for Wednesday.

Derby vs Millwall Anytime Goalscorer Predictions

With Jack Marriott breathing down his neck, Martyn Waghorn will be hoping to keep his place in the side. His performances have been excellent in recent weeks, and he netted both goals against Hull. He is the kind of player, who thrives on good service and also regularly goes on scoring runs. Waghorn spent time on loan at the Den, scoring three times in his 14 appearances, and he’ll fancy the opportunity to score against Neil Harris’ side. He’s netted eight times this campaign, and he can take a huge step towards double figures here. Martyn Waghorn is the third of our Derby vs Millwall predictions in the Championship.

Derby vs Millwall Match Betting Preview

Derby understandably start as favourites for this tie and can be backed at a generous-looking 21/20. The Rams have enjoyed some decent home form in recent weeks, and can continue that against the Lions. Millwall can be backed at 3/1, whilst it’s 5/2 for the game to end all-square.

It’s 4/5 for Both Teams to Score? Yes in this game, but Millwall’s poor form in front of goal could point punters towards Both Teams to Score? No, which is priced at 10/11.

Jack Marriott returns to the side and is available at 9/2 to net the opener in this game. Our anytime goalscorer Martyn Waghorn is second in the betting at 5/1 to break the deadlock and is closely followed by David Nugent, who is 11/2.
