Chelsea to beat Everton
The Blues usually don’t fare too well at Goodison Park, but Everton’s complete lack of recruitment in their attacking department this summer has left them stranded following Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s two-month injury that he picked up earlier this week.
With Richarlison having departed to Tottenham for a fee of around £50m, Salomon Rondon still being suspended from a brainless red card picked up against Brentford towards the end of last season and Ellis Simms being loaned out to Sunderland, it remains to be seen who could start up front for the Toffees. As a result, their goal threat has been comprehensively crushed – and with Chelsea signing Raheem Sterling to help out with their attacking contingent, they could more than likely end their recent Merseyside hoodoo at a superb price of 4/6.
Norwich to beat Wigan
Norwich started their season with a disappointing loss away to Cardiff on the opening day but will be expected to change that against newly-promoted Wigan at Carrow Road.
The Canaries have won the title in their last two Championship seasons, winning 14 of their 23 home games in the 2020/21 season and 15 of their 23 in 2018/19, making their home turf a fortress.
Having kept the majority of their squad so far this summer with only Christos Tzolis and Pierre Lees-Melou leaving the club, they should get back to winning ways in front of a buoyant home crowd in Norfolk. At 3/4, they represent a superb choice.

Burnley to beat Luton
Many were apprehensive over Vincent Kompany’s Burnley side and how they would fare in the second tier after a six-year hiatus from the second tier. Going into the game against Huddersfield with six debutants in their starting XI and having lost the majority of their stars over the summer, many tipped the Clarets for a bottom-half finish.
However, their rampant display against a scared-looking Huddersfield Town side last Friday alleviated any fears amongst the Clarets faithful as they dominated the Terriers and recorded the highest possession stat in their history after just one game under the Belgian.
With Luton coming to east Lancashire, it could be a tough challenge against another side who qualified for the playoffs last season; but at a sell-out Turf Moor, their fans should pull them to victory at 5/6.
Peterborough to beat Morecambe
Relegated Posh had a decent season by their own standards in the Championship considering how little they spent in comparison to other teams in the division, and only finished four points from safety behind freefalling Reading. After a mesmerising 3-2 win over Cheltenham Town on the opening day and keeping star striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, they are expected to be promotion contenders again this season.
Morecambe, meanwhile, are expected to be towards the relegation dogfight once again this season; understandably so given their small budget. At a fortress such as London Road, where Peterborough won 15 of their 23 home games, 8/15 is a good price.

Celtic to beat Ross County
Ange Postecoglou’s men went from finishing 25 points behind Rangers at the end of the 20/21 season to running riot last year after just a year under his control. With further signings this summer and no major departures bar Tom Rogic and Nir Bitton, they will be expected to further their total alongside pressing on in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the Staggies have recorded just one win at home against Celtic in the last nine years, and that was whilst Neil Lennon’s nightmare spell was at its peak.
In a resurgent side under the Australian, free-scoring Celtic will constantly cause problems for Malky Mackay’s men from the get-go until the final whistle – and the 1/4 odds behind the Hoops is actually a good price considering their form against County in recent years.
