Premier League Fantasy Football Gameweek 33+ Captains Selections & Advice

Fantasy Football tips

The Premier League conclusion rolls ever closer and for Gameweek 33, there are some favourable fixtures for Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool, but who are the best captain choices for this weekend’s matches?

Once again, Gameweek 33+ presents us with a long and varied list of potential captaincy picks. Here’s a closer look at our three preferred options:

Option 1 – Kevin De Bruyne (10.7m) vs Southampton

The first name on our shortlist is a familiar one as Kevin De Bruyne makes a return to our considerations. The Belgian international has scored three and assisted two in his three appearances since the restart. He has now scored 11 and assisted 20 to take him 16 points clear atop the FPL points chart.

Manchester City come up against Southampton on Sunday. The Saints have little to play for and have conceded three or more on four occasions against top-six sides this season.

The biggest caveat when selecting De Bruyne for captaincy is Guardiola’s rotation policy. Man City have little to play for in the league and are still involved in two cup competitions. De Bruyne has already missed one game since the restart and could easily miss out once again.

Option 2 – Bruno Fernandes (8.8m) vs Bournemouth

Manchester United’s January signing has been nothing short of sensational since joining the Red Devils. He has helped transform an underperforming side into a credible top-four team.

Since arriving, Fernandes has scored five and assisted three in just eight appearances. Fernandes scored a brace against Brighton from his 63 minutes last time out.

Manchester United now face a Bournemouth side who lost 4-1 to Newcastle and are looking destined for the drop. The Cherries have lost six of their last seven and conceded 54 in 32 games this season. With penalty duties to boot, Fernandes looks like a solid pick for Gameweek 33+’s captain.

Option 3 – Christian Pulisic (7.1m) vs Watford

Christian Pulisic has been far and away Chelsea’s best player since the restart. The American scored the equaliser against Aston Villa off the bench, opened the scoring against Manchester City and won a penalty and a free-kick which were each converted against West Ham.

Pulisic has seven goals and five assists from just 14 league starts this season. His directness is invaluable to Chelsea as the Blues struggle to break down teams who sit back and defend deep. That is exactly the kind of prospect they are likely to face this weekend when they come up against relegation-threatened Watford.

Pulisic has shown his potential for big returns with a hat-trick against Burnley earlier this season. With just 7.3% ownership at the time of writing, he could be a great differential captaincy.

Recommended Captain for FPL Gameweek 33+

Manchester United’s strong form and Bournemouth’s woeful defence make the consistent Bruno Fernandes too good to ignore for this week. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also have to come into the reckoning for the United fixture.
