World Cup Qualifying Betting Tips – England, Scotland and Northern Ireland all in action tonight

Phil Foden England

The World Cup qualifying campaign gets underway for more nations tonight and England, Scotland and Northern Ireland are the focus of our betting tips for today’s matches.

England host minnows San Marino and the fans will be expecting a big performance in front of goal. Things are set to be much tougher for Northern Ireland away at Italy and Scotland face a tricky home tie with Austria, but one where they will fancy their chances of getting a result.

The other match featured in our betting tips is Germany vs Iceland and you can see each selection and the odds below.

England vs San Marino

Leading After 15 Minutes – 17/20 with William Hill

Finding value in a match-up like this can be tricky. England will win by a convincing margin, there’s little doubt of that, but the timing of the first goal could be an interesting selection.

The last time these two sides met in 2015, Wayna Rooney gave England the lead from the spot in the 13th minute in a 6-0 win. San Marino’s defensive prospects haven’t improved much since then with the minnows conceding a 3rd minute goal in a recent competitive game against Liechtenstein. At close to evens, an early England goal looks like a strong selection.

Germany vs Iceland

Germany to Win and Both Teams to Score – 11/5 with Bet Victor

Despite losing just once, Germany have conceded in seven of their previous eight internationals. A 1-0 win against the Czech Republic is their solitary clean sheet in the last 12 months having conceded to Switzerland, Turkey, and Ukraine in that time.

Iceland have lost seven of their last eight internationals. Of those eight fixtures, they managed to score in five, including goals against Denmark, England, and Belgium. Despite the goals, Iceland have suffered heavy defeats on more than one occasion in the last year and a Germany win with both sides finding the net looks like a solid bet.

Italy vs Northern Ireland

Italy to Win to Nil – 8/13 with Paddy Power

Italy haven’t lost an international since September 2018 and have won 15 of their last 18 games. To add to that, the Italians have managed three wins to nil on the bounce against Estonia, Poland, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Northern Ireland probably ranks somewhere between Italy’s last three opponents and aren’t known for their goalscoring exploits. NI haven’t won any of their previous eight internationals and have failed to score more than once in any of those.

Scotland vs Austria

Under 1.5 Goals – 2/1 with William Hill

Five of Scotland’s last six results have seen fewer than 1.5 goals. The only exception in those fixtures came against Serbia in a 1-1 draw thanks to a 90th minutes equaliser from Luka Jovic.

Two of Austria’s last five games have seen under 1.5 goals with three of those only having one side scoring. Most recently, Austria drew 1-1 with Norway after 94th minutes equaliser for the home side. At 2/1 there’s every chance that this selection comes off.
