Manchester City vs Burnley Predictions

Manchester City may not have yet hit top gear but they’re still very much the bookies’ favourites to win the Premier League for a second successive season. Pep Guardiola’s side were unlucky not to win against Liverpool before the international break and are the division’s highest scorers with eight games gone. Burnley’s imminent visit will likely have Citizens fans rubbing their hands together at the prospect of a goal-fest – and they’ve got every right to expect one. I can see City handing out a routine spanking on Saturday afternoon, which makes them winning by a -2 handicap a tempting proposition with 4/5 available at Betfair.

Manchester City vs Burnley Anytime Goalscorer Odds

Some observers have suggested that City aren’t quite the same team as the one that stormed to the title last season – and the recent absence of talismanic Kevin De Bruyne has certainly played a part in this. The Belgian playmaker was arguably the first name on the team sheet during the 2017-18 campaign and his sublime form throughout had many once again questioning why Jose Mourinho was so happy to offload him at Chelsea. De Bruyne is in line to make only his second start since August which will give the Burnley defence another tricky customer to contend with. You can get 2/1 on the flame-haired dynamo popping up with a goal at anytime, with Unibet the most generous.

Manchester City vs Burnley Half-time/Full-time Odds

I’ve also been fond of the half-time/full-time market when it comes to backing heavily fancied teams, which is certainly a fair way to described Manchester City this weekend. There’s not much value in them winning outright at 1/10, although I think it’s a formality, so I’ve looked for a more prosperous way of including them in my football accumulator. They’ve got 45 minutes to establish a lead in order for the bet to remain open by 4pm, and I’m very much expecting the hosts to hit the ground running. Ladbrokes make this a 4/9 poke – which is far longer than many of their rivals – and if there’s a better investment at the price anywhere else this weekend then I haven’t seen it!

Manchester City vs Burnley Betting Preview

Manchester City to win – 1/10

Draw – 12/1

Burnley to win – 35/1

As touched upon, the 1/10 on a Manchester City win is far too short to include in any form for me. I’m not prepared to bet a tenner to win a solitary pound, even if I don’t envisage any outcome other than Pep’s men winning handsomely.

It’s fair to say the bookmakers don’t see The Clarets denting City’s unbeaten streak, which is probably why they’re priced up at around the 35/1 mark. There’s bound to be a few people out there who like backing an outsider, but I’m not expecting them to see a return on their investment. Time will tell.
