Tottenham vs Newcastle Preview

Spurs have emerged with four points from their opening two games without playing particularly well. A slow start saw Villa take the lead in their opening game. The second half introduction of Christian Eriksen changed proceedings and tipped the balance in Tottenham’s favour, who emerged as 3-1 winners. The North Londoners were outplayed and struggled to get a footing against Manchester City. Having only had 3 shots to City’s 30, they were incredibly fortunate to take a point.

Meanwhile, Newcastle have nothing to show for their efforts thus far. A tough opening fixture against Arsenal could have gone differently if record signing, Joelinton, had taken a golden opportunity presented to him. As it were, Newcastle fell to a 1-0 defeat. Their trip to Norwich was far less successful, as Teemu Pukki dismantled the Tynesiders with a hat-trick. Newcastle grabbed a consolation via Jonjo Shelvey but were thoroughly outplayed by the promoted side.

Tottenham vs Newcastle Betting Tips

Despite a relatively slow start, Tottenham should have no difficulty in dispatching of Newcastle. The Toon look to be in serious trouble already, with the effects of Rafa Benitez’s departure being felt. Joelinton needs to get off the mark soon to avoid being hampered with his hefty price tag. With Heung-Min Son now available for selection, Spurs have a wealth of attacking options.

Newcastle have struggled to make an impact going forwards in their opening fixtures. The departures of top goalscorers, Solomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez look to have hit hard and there are serious question’s over Steve Bruce’s ability to get this squad firing. A Spurs clean sheet looks likely and is priced at 8/11.

Having conceded three to Norwich, Newcastle’s defence is looking far from secure. Tottenham have averaged 2.5 goals a game from their opening two fixtures and look set to score well once again. If Eriksen starts as expected, the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura will have plenty to feed off. We’re backing Spurs to win 3-0 at 7/1.
