No Action to be taken against Tyrone Mings following horrific injury to Nelson Oliveira
There was a contentious moment in Reading’s match against Aston Villa at the weekend where the Reading star came off with some horrific injuries – but are the FA right to take no further action against Tyrone Mings?
Mings was making his debut for Aston Villa after arriving on loan from Bournemouth, and ‘stamped’ on Reading’s Nelson Oliveira’s face after a tussle lead to the Reading man lying on the floor.
Because the officials seen the incident at the time, the FA will be taking no further action against Mings and Twitter are debating whether it was intentional, and whether the rule should be changed.

Looking at the footage, it is hard to say for sure whether the stamp was intentional or whether he couldn’t get his foot out the way. To Mings’ credit, he immediately stopped playing and called on the physios.
The Extent of Oliveira’s Injuries
The images below clearly show just how serious the injury to the Reading man was and it is no surprise he has had to have surgery to help the healing process.

Oliveira was left with a deep gash on his nose and above his eye, as well as suspected broken nose after Mings’ full body weight landed on his face.
Reading’s official Twitter account have today informed fans that Oliveira has had surgery and is now recovering.
