Manchester City will head back on the road when they meet with Aston Villa at Villa Park with the champions looking to move ahead of Arsenal at the top of the league table before they meet with Manchester United on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been sensational so far. The club have four wins on the board already and even when they looked like losing, they managed to snatch a point from 3-1 down away to Newcastle United. Now, after Erling Haaland made it nine goals in five games, it does look like we could see record after record get broken and trophy after trophy fall into the lap of Guardiola.

A dramatic loss here could also spell the end for Steven Gerrard at the helm of Villa. So far, the club remains in the relegation zone after five games, defeating only Everton this season and losing the other four games.

City should win here, and it will be quite a comfortable one in truth.

MAN CITY TO WIN

So far, the champions have netted 19 goals and let in five along the way to sitting second in the table ahead of the game. What’s more, considering Liverpool managed to beat Bournemouth 9-0 and still sit below City in the goals scored department, it shows how dominant they’ve been in front of goal.

More impressively, it’s not just Haaland scoring them all. Nine of the 19 goals have been his, but the likes of Julian Alvarez scored twice in the win against Nottingham Forest in midweek, while players such as Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva continue to prove their worth for the club.

There’s no doubt in my mind City get another win here against a desperate Villa side.

What an absolute sensation Haaland is. The Norwegian has only gone and carried on his stunning record put in over in Germany, and given how City score in basically every game they play and win most things in sight in England, there’s a genuine chance Haaland scores each week and ends the season with a handful of trophies.

In fact, there is very little stopping him from breaking Mohamed Salah’s record of 32 goals in a 38-game season in what is his debut campaign in the Premier League. What’s more, after back-to-back hat-tricks in the league against Palace and Forest, it would take a wise man to back against him getting another in this one

Villa have also let in nine goals from five games so far, which is the same amount Haaland has scored by himself already. In fact, only Brentford, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have outscored the city striker after five games.

 

BOTH TEAMS TO RECEIVE A CARD

Despite the unbeaten form, City have still picked up a few cards. Indeed, they did not receive a booking against Forest, but they did get one against Palace, while recording two against Newcastle two weeks back, just as Joao Cancelo was booked against West Ham United.

Villa, however, have got a booking in every game so far and will likely end up tallying up a few when chasing the game against the champions. The club received three yellow cards against Arsenal in midweek, and two against West Ham United last weekend, while registering one against Crystal Palace just prior to this.
