Champions League Qualifying Tips: 5/1 Treble for Tuesday’s Matches

Rangers betting tips

Rangers are back in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds and after impressing in the past two Europa League campaigns, they’ll be looking to make it to the group stages.

Steven Gerrard’s men have been good in recent Europa League competitions but their match against Malmo this week will provide an early test. The Swedish Champions were dominant domestically last season, much like Tuesday’s opponents.

Elsewhere, Olympiakos face Ludogorets (the winners play Malmo or Rangers) and PSV Eindhoven play FC Midtjylland. There are a total of seven Champions League qualifying matches on Tuesday and we’ve picked our betting tip from these matches.

Malmo vs Rangers

Winning isn’t essential for Rangers here, but they will want to give themselves an advantage before the return leg in Glasgow next week. They started their domestic season with a 3-0 win over Livingston at the weekend while Malmo are already 13 matches into their domestic season, they sit second.

The Swedish side have already played two rounds of UCL qualifying, winning the home leg and drawing away on both occasions. Rangers should be a step up in quality compared to Riga and HJK so we’re betting on Rangers to get a first leg lead here.

Rangers to win.

PSV Eindhoven vs FC Midtjylland

The Dutch side face Celtic’s conquerors in this round of qualifying and they’ll be expected to ease past their Danish opponents over the two legs. PSV thrashed Galatasaray in the last qualifying round, beating them 5-1 at home and 2-1 away.

FC Midtjylland got past Celtic in extra-time of their match and they did look good for large parts of that tie, however PSV were very good against Galatasaray and have some experienced played in their squad. We’re predicting the Dutch side will take a big step towards the group stages here.

PSV to win by 2 goals or more (-1 handicap)

Olympiakos vs Ludogorets

  • 8pm

The winners of this tie play either Rangers or Malmo in the final qualifying round and Olympiakos have home advantage in the first leg. The Greek side are good defensively and won both legs of the last round 1-0 against Neftchi Baku.

Ludogorets are on a good run at the moment, winning six of their last seven in all competitions and drawing the other. The visitors could have the fitness edge having already started their domestic campaign, but we’re betting on Olympiakos to edge this first leg.

Olympiakos to win.
