Despite Preston’s impressive home form, it’s Fulham who begin this clash as favourites in the betting. The Cottagers are available at around 11/8 to pick up back-to-back away wins and continue to put pressure on the sides above them. PNE have lost four in a row (three of them away from home) and can be backed at 2/1 to halt their slide and collect maximum points in this Tuesday night encounter. Over 2.5 Goals is odds-on, but it tends to land in Preston home matches whilst BTTS is relatively short at 8/13. Free-scoring Aleksandar Mitrovic is the favourite in the anytime goalscorer market at 13/10 whilst strike partner Aboubakar Kamara, who netted at the weekend, is priced at 12/5 to notch again.
It’s hard to look beyond goals in this encounter. Preston lost their last match at Deepdale to table-topping WBA, who specialise in keeping clean sheets on their Fulham. This is not a practice that Fulham have become accustomed to. The Cottagers are better defensively, but they are far from perfect and have kept just a single clean sheet in their last five matches. Preston are unlikely to draw successive blanks and the division’s highest home goalscorers will offer a real threat on Tuesday. Only two sides have conceded fewer than Fulham on the road this season yet this will be one of their toughest tests to date. Preston have notched 25 times so far at this ground and Alex Neil will be keen to get his side back fit and firing. Over 2.5 Goals is priced at 4/5 with Ladbrokes and that looks like a decent odds-on shot for this clash. It’s landed in 70% of Preston home games this season whilst just over 50% of Fulham’s away matches have featured three or more goals. The draw looks the likeliest option in this game. Strangely, Fulham have only twice on the road this season and both of those defeats have come against the bottom two. When taking on better opposition, they’ve more than held their own. They’ve picked up a point against both Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday, the two sides currently flanking Preston and they may be forced to settle for a draw once again here. It is 13/5 with Unibet for this game to end all-square and that looks a decent option.
