Championship leaders West Brom are the favourites for this Monday night fixture and can be backed at 7/5 with Betfred. The Baggies have been superb this season and have excelled away from home. Preston are one of the strongest home sides in the division and the Lilywhites are available at 2/1 to pick up three points here. They will be aiming to become just the second team to defeat Slaven Bilic’s side this season. The draw is available at 5/2 and is likely to be popular with punters. Both teams to score? Yes is available at 8/13 whilst anyone expecting a goal-fest can get 4/5 on Over 2.5 Goals on Monday night.  

 

Preston vs West Brom Preview

WBA have been superb this season and are extremely tough to beat. Slaven Bilic’s side swept past a decent Bristol City side in midweek and are scoring goals from all over the field. Leeds are the only side to have beaten the Midlands outfit season although this is likely to be one of their toughest tests to date. 

Preston have the division’s best home form and have taken 23 points at Deepdale thus far. Despite their dubious away form, PNE are formidable in front of their own fans and they score for fun here. They’ve netted at least twice in all but one of their matches at this stadium with Leeds being the only side to restrict them to a single strike. 

Alex Neil’s side have suffered back-to-back away losses coming into this game and they failed to find the net in either of those two games. They did create chances in those games and stand a far better chance of converting here in Lancashire. 

The Baggies have struggled to keep clean sheets at the Hawthorns, however they’ve been watertight on the road and have conceded just five goals on their travels. No side has scored more than a single goal against them away from home and PNE may struggle to recreate the swashbuckling performances of the last couple of months. 

Preston have a few injuries to contend with and if they are forced to play Ryan Ledson in defence again, they could be in trouble here. It’ll be interesting to see how Neil’s men react to their heaviest defeat of the campaign. 

 

Preston vs West Brom Predictions

Despite Preston’s high-scoring home performances, they could struggle to score more than a single goal here. I think they will still register in this game, although it is likely that WBA will outscore them. It should be a high-quality, entertaining 90 minutes and I think we’ll see goals at both ends. Over 2.5 Goals is odds-on although at 21/20 with William Hill, it could be worth chucking in BTTS. It would have landed in five of the last eight West Brom games and in three of Preston’s last four matches at this stadium. 

It may also be worth backing Over 1.5 West Brom goals in this tie. Preston have been forced to reshuffle at the back and that should play into the Baggies’ hands. Interestingly, WBA haven’t scored more than two goals on the road this season, although they’ve netted exactly that amount on four occasions. It’s available at 11/10 with Betway.
