FanTeam Scoring 2021/22

The new Premier League season is just around the corner and we have already put together our first draft for the FanTeam £1,000,000 season-long game.

Very few transfers have been completed in the Premier League so far, so things are likely to change in the lead up to Gameweek 1 but FanTeam managers are already entering their team and if you are new to the game, you can get the FanTeam sign-up bonus which gets you a £20 free bet when you sign-up and enter a team into the £1,000,000 game.

Goalkeepers

One of the best performing goalkeepers last season was Aston Villa’s number 1 Emiliano Martinez and he is the first name on our team sheet for this season too. Villa start the season away at Watford before home matches with Newcastle and Brentford, where Martinez should get some early points on the board.

The sub-keeper is currently Ben Foster but this is a changeable place once we get an idea of the starters for the lower ranked teams.

Defenders

There will definitely be a Luke Shaw bandwagon after his heroics at Euro 2020, but United’s defence doesn’t look great at the time of writing. Ben White’s price appeals, especially if he does move to Arsenal and Cancelo and Robertson are the two premium picks at this stage.

Callum Chambers is a good price unless Arsenal sign another right back to start, that will see Chambers replaced.

Bech Sorensen makes up the numbers.

Midfielders

There are always good points to be picked up from attacking midfielders and we have so far selected three premium options for the starting 11 of our first draft. Jadon Sancho is already in the game (priced at 9.0m) and will be one of the most popular picks in the game.

The same can be said for Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City. Sadio Mane is the current third pick and he is always a good differential the more expensive Mo Salah, although this is another position that could change with the likes of Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, Heung-Min Son, Kai Havertz, Diogo Jota and Mason Greenwood all viable cheaper options.

Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo takes a place on the bench and he looks a good differential budget option given his strong returns in the Championship last season.

Percy Tau fills the last place.

Forwards

The strong midfield three means we are restricted to three middle-of-the-road priced forwards, starting with Jamie Vardy. He is a consistent performer for Leicester City and that means he is reliable for a FanTeam draft. Taking penalties, and winning a lot of them, also helps his cause.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin keeps his place in our team from last season and looking at Everton’s early fixtures, he will et the chance to start quickly once again.

Ivan Toney will be the most popular cheap option for the forwards and it is easy to see why. It might pay to go against the grain here but we will wait and see which teams sign new strikers before settling on the third spot.

Other Options

The options are endless at this early stage of planning your Fam Team starting 11 for the 2021/22 season, however there are some stand-out players missing from our first draft.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the big miss from the defence and it could pay off to select a cheaper third midfielder and upgrade Robertson to Trent. This would probably mean dropping Sadio Mane for Foden, Havertz or Jota, with Diogo Jota looking the most likely replacement.

Mo Salah will be one of the most selected players in the game once again and his penalty taking gives him the edge over Mane. He is the most expensive midfielder on FanTeam at £12.5m and Bruno Fernandes is £12.0. Fernandes was reliant on penalties last season so he’s one we will be avoiding, for the early part of the season at least.

Aston Villa are heavily reliant on Jack Grealish and he is a strong option for your FanTeam midfield. At £7.5m he is priced the same as Mason Greenwood (who won’t play as many minutes) and Leed’s Raphinha. Phil Foden is £8.0 but will suffer rotation once again at Manchester City.

Harry Kane is the obvious omission from the forward line but until his future is resolved we’ll take a watching brief. He is £12.0m and the next most expensive striker is Aubameyang along with Vardy at £9.5m. The lack of premium strikers means there is definite value to be had from the forward players.
