The Cheltenham Gold Cup is the most valuable, most watched and most bet-on race of the entire Festival. Run over three miles and two and a half furlongs on Friday 13th March, it is the race that defines careers, settles arguments and produces some of the biggest single-race betting turnover of the entire jumps season.
It is also the race that falls on the final day of the Festival — which means by the time it goes to post, a significant proportion of punters will have already used their sign-up free bets at the major bookmakers during the preceding three days. On this page you will find every free bet offer available for the 2026 Gold Cup, including the main bookmaker sign-up deals for anyone who still has accounts to open, and a dedicated section of new and lesser-known bookmakers whose offers will still be available on Gold Cup day even if you have already collected from bet365, Sky Bet, Paddy Power, Ladbrokes, Coral, William Hill and Betfred.
For a full overview of every sign-up offer available across the whole Festival, see our Cheltenham free bets hub. For existing customer promotions including Non-Runner No Bet, Best Odds Guaranteed and extra places on Gold Cup day, see our Cheltenham existing customer offers guide.
Gold Cup Free Bets from the Major Bookmakers
If you have not yet opened accounts with the bookmakers below, these are the offers to prioritise before Gold Cup day. All five are available to new UK customers and all can be used on the Gold Cup market.
bet365 — Bet £10 Get £30 in Bet Credits
bet365 is the largest online bookmaker in the UK and offers one of the most straightforward sign-up deals available. Deposit and bet £10 at minimum odds of 1/5 and receive £30 in Bet Credits on settlement. Bet Credits are used in place of cash stakes, and any winnings are added to your withdrawable balance, with the credit stake not returned.
For the Gold Cup specifically, bet365 offers Non-Runner No Bet on all 28 Festival races including the Gold Cup, making it one of the best accounts to hold for ante-post Gold Cup betting. If your selection does not run, your stake is returned in full as cash.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £30 in Bet Credits Min qualifying odds: 1/5 Bet Credits expiry: 30 days Existing customer offers: BOG, NRNB all 28 races, Super Boosts
William Hill — Bet £10 Get £40 in Free Bets | Code: G40
William Hill’s welcome offer delivers £40 in free bets across four £10 tokens for a £10 qualifying bet. The tokens cover sports, in-play and acca bets and can all be used on Gold Cup day racing markets. William Hill also offers Best Odds Guaranteed and Non-Runner No Bet across all 28 Festival races, and their daily Bet Boosts (three per day) are worth checking each morning including Gold Cup day.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £40 in free bets (4 x £10) | Code: G40 Min qualifying odds: Evens (2.0) Free bet expiry: 30 days Existing customer offers: BOG, NRNB all 28 races, Bet Boosts
Betfred — Bet £10 Get £50 in Free Bets
Betfred’s offer gives new customers £50 across a mix of sports and casino free bets for a £10 qualifying bet. The sports free bets can be used on the Gold Cup, and Betfred is exclusively Non-Runner No Bet across all 28 Festival races — there is no standard ante-post market, every bet placed ante-post has full NRNB protection built in. If your Gold Cup ante-post selection is declared a non-runner before the race, your stake is returned in full.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £50 in free bets Min qualifying odds: Evens (2.0) Existing customer offers: NRNB all 28 races (exclusively), acca insurance
Boylesports — Bet £10 Get £40 Free Bet
Boylesports’ welcome offer gives new customers a £40 free bet for a £10 qualifying bet. For Gold Cup day specifically, Boylesports are one of the best bookmakers to hold an account with — they offer Best Odds Guaranteed from 8am on all Festival races, Non-Runner No Bet on all 28 races, and their Money Back 2nd to SP Favourite promotion runs across the Festival, including Gold Cup day. The Gold Cup itself typically draws a field of 20 or more runners, which activates Boylesports’ best extra places terms of six places at 1/5 odds for each-way bets.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £40 free bet Min qualifying odds: Evens (2.0) Existing customer offers: BOG from 8am, NRNB all 28 races, Money Back 2nd to SP Fav, Extra Places up to 6 on fields 20+
SBK — Bet £5 Get £30 in Free Bets | Code: TAG30
SBK’s welcome offer requires the lowest qualifying stake of any major bookmaker — bet just £5 at odds of 2/1 or bigger and receive £30 in free bet tokens across six £5 instalments over 48 hours. For Gold Cup day, the lower qualifying stake makes SBK a good final account to open if you have been working through bookmakers across the week. The Price+ feature shows real-time price comparisons against the major firms, making it useful for finding the best available Gold Cup price once the day-of-race market opens.
Note that all six SBK tokens require a minimum of five legs — they cannot be used on singles or doubles. The Horse Racing Multiple token is the most natural fit for Gold Cup day, combined with selections from the other Friday races to make up the five-leg minimum.
Sign-up offer: Bet £5 get £30 in free bets (6 x £5) | Code: TAG30 Min qualifying odds: 2/1 (3.0) Token expiry: 5 days from credit Min legs per token: 5 Excluded deposits: Skrill, Neteller, Revolut, PayPal, virtual prepaid cards
New Bookmaker Offers for Gold Cup Day
By the time the Gold Cup goes to post on Friday afternoon, most punters who have been active throughout the Festival will have already claimed their free bets at the major bookmakers. If that applies to you, the bookmakers below are ones you may not have accounts with yet — all are UK-licensed, all cover the Gold Cup market, and all still have new customer sign-up offers available.
The Gold Cup is also the most liquid single race of the Festival, which means prices at smaller bookmakers tend to be closely aligned with the major firms. Opening an account purely to get the best available price on your Gold Cup selection is a legitimate strategy even without the free bet angle.
BetRino — Bet £25 Get £50 Free Bet | Code: BB50
The largest single free bet of any bookmaker on this page. A £50 free bet from a £25 qualifying stake at minimum odds of 1.5 — and a £50 free bet placed on a 5/1 Gold Cup selection returns £250 in winnings if successful, with the free bet stake not returned. BetRino is operated by Progress Play, one of the most established white-label operators in the UK regulated market. Ante-post and day-of-race Gold Cup markets are available.
Sign-up offer: Bet £25 get £50 free bet | Code: BB50 Min qualifying odds: 1.5 | Expiry: 7 days | Excluded deposits: Skrill, Neteller
BlueFox — Bet £20 Get £30 Free Bet
A £30 free bet from a £20 qualifying stake. BlueFox is a UK-licensed sportsbook covering UK and Irish horse racing. The free bet is a single one-time stake at minimum odds of 1.5 — place it on the Gold Cup day-of-race market for a clean, single-bet free bet use without minimum leg restrictions.
Sign-up offer: Bet £20 get £30 free bet | No code required Min qualifying odds: 1.5 | Expiry: 7 days | Excluded deposits: Skrill, Neteller
Spinzwin — Bet £20 Get £35 Free Bet
A £35 free bet from a £20 qualifying stake — a 175% return on the qualifying bet. The Gold Cup field is typically one of the smallest of the Festival (10–15 runners) but prices tend to be bigger than the Championship races across the week. A £35 free bet on a 10/1 shot returns £350 in winnings if successful.
Sign-up offer: Bet £20 get £35 free bet | No code required Min qualifying odds: 1.5 | Expiry: 7 days | Excluded deposits: Skrill, Neteller
Casino Kings — Bet £10 Get £35 Free Bet
The best ratio of free bet return to qualifying stake of any bookmaker on this page — £35 back from a £10 qualifying bet is a 350% return. A low-commitment account to open, and the £35 free bet can be placed as a single on any Gold Cup market.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £35 free bet | No code required
MogoBet — Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bet
A £30 free bet from a £10 qualifying stake, making MogoBet one of the easiest accounts to trigger during the Festival. Place the qualifying bet on any Gold Cup ante-post market before Friday morning and the free bet will be ready to use on the race itself.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £30 free bet | No code required
JeffBet — Bet £10 Get £30 Free Bet

A matched £20 free bet from a £10 qualifying single at Evens or bigger. Swifty Sports is a clean mobile-first sportsbook covering UK horse racing. The qualifying bet must be a single — straightforward to place on the Gold Cup ante-post market in the days before the race.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £20 free bet | No code required Min qualifying odds: Evens (1/1) | Qualifying bet type: Single only | Expiry: 7 days
BestOdds — Bet £20 Get £25 in Free Bets | Code: bop20xfb5
Five £5 tokens credited one per day across five days. If your qualifying bet settles early enough in the week, your fifth and final token could arrive on Gold Cup day itself — a natural way to have a free bet ready on the biggest race of the Festival.
Sign-up offer: Bet £20 get £25 (5 x £5) | Code: bop20xfb5 Min qualifying odds: Evens (2.0) | Token expiry: 24 hours per token after credit
BetMaze — Bet £10 Get £10 Free Bet
The simplest low-stakes offer on this page. Place £10 in bets from your first deposit and receive a £10 free bet token automatically. A £10 free bet on a Gold Cup outsider at 16/1 or bigger returns £160 in winnings — small stake, meaningful upside.
Sign-up offer: Bet £10 get £10 free bet | No code required Min qualifying odds: 1.5 | Expiry: 7 days | Max conversion: £200
Bet442 — Bet £20 Get £20 in Free Bets
The £20 in free bets breaks down as a £10 standard free bet and two £5 Bet Builder tokens. The £10 standard token is the most useful for Gold Cup day — a single free bet stake on any Gold Cup runner at minimum odds of 4/5.
Sign-up offer: Bet £20 get £20 (£10 + 2 x £5 Bet Builder) | No code required Min qualifying odds: Evens (2.0)

How to Use Free Bets on the Cheltenham Gold Cup
Free bets work differently to cash bets in one important way — the stake is not returned with your winnings. If you place a £30 cash bet at 6/1 and win, you collect £180 back (£30 stake + £150 winnings). If you place a £30 free bet at 6/1 and win, you collect £150 (winnings only, stake not returned). That distinction shapes how you should use free bets on the Gold Cup.
Target bigger prices. Because the free bet stake is not returned, the value of a free bet scales directly with the odds. A £30 free bet at 3/1 wins you £90. The same token at 10/1 wins you £300. The Gold Cup is typically won at prices between 4/1 and 16/1 — there is almost always a viable each-way or win selection available at a price that makes a free bet stake worthwhile. Avoid using free bets on short-priced favourites.
Use cash for short-priced ante-post bets. If you are confident enough to back the Gold Cup favourite at 2/1 or shorter, use your own cash rather than a free bet — the low odds mean the free bet stake delivers a relatively small return. Free bets are better deployed on mid-to-big priced runners where the upside is significant.
Time your qualifying bets carefully. Most free bets need a qualifying bet to settle before the token is credited. If you open a new account on Gold Cup morning, there may not be enough time for the qualifying bet to settle and the free bet to arrive before the race goes off. The safest approach is to open accounts and place qualifying bets in the days before Friday — Tuesday or Wednesday morning at the latest for tokens that credit on settlement.
Check whether each-way bets are eligible. Most of the free bets on this page can be used on each-way bets. The Gold Cup typically has a field large enough to pay four places each-way at 1/4 odds. An each-way free bet on a 10/1 shot that finishes in the first four returns £25 on the place part alone (10/1 ÷ 4 = 2.5/1, £10 free bet stake = £25 place return, stake not included). Check the individual terms for each bookmaker before placing.
Gold Cup Existing Customer Offers
If you already have accounts with the major bookmakers, the following existing customer promotions are relevant for Gold Cup day.
Non-Runner No Bet is available across all 28 races at bet365, Betfair, Betfred, Boylesports, Coral, Ladbrokes, Paddy Power, Sky Bet and William Hill. If your Gold Cup ante-post selection is declared a non-runner, your stake is returned in full as cash. Given the Gold Cup regularly sees late defections and route switches among the staying chaser division, NRNB protection on Gold Cup bets is worth using. Full details in our Cheltenham Non-Runner No Bet guide.
Best Odds Guaranteed is available from 8am on race day at Boylesports (all 28 races), and from the morning of the race at bet365, Betfred, Sky Bet, William Hill, Ladbrokes and Coral. If you take an ante-post price that is shorter than the starting price, you are paid at SP instead. For the Gold Cup, where overnight market moves can be significant, BOG on a pre-race price is a meaningful protection.
Extra Places on the Gold Cup depends on the field size. With 20 or more runners, Boylesports, Paddy Power and Betfair typically pay six places each-way. With 15–19 runners, most firms pay five places. With fewer than 15 runners, standard four-place terms apply. The Gold Cup regularly fields between 12 and 20 runners — check confirmed extra place terms on Gold Cup morning once the field is declared.
Odds Boosts and Price Surges are available during the Festival at bet365 (Super Boosts), William Hill (Bet Boosts, three per day), Ladbrokes (Daily Odds Boost) and SBK (Price Surge). Check the promotions page of each bookmaker on Gold Cup morning — these are typically published between 8am and 10am on race day.
For the full list of existing customer offers across all four days, see our Cheltenham Existing Customer Offers guide.

FAQs
Can I use a sign-up free bet specifically on the Gold Cup?
Yes — free bets from new customer sign-up offers can be used on any available market including the Gold Cup, subject to the individual terms of each offer (minimum odds, excluded bet types, expiry date). The one thing to check is that the free bet will still be valid on Friday 13th March — tokens with a 5-day or 7-day expiry window need to be credited by Saturday 8th March at the earliest to still be usable on Gold Cup day. Time your qualifying bets accordingly.
Which is the best free bet offer for the Gold Cup specifically?
For outright value, BetRino’s £50 single free bet is the largest token available and can be placed in full on any Gold Cup runner. For lowest qualifying stake, Casino Kings and MogoBet both offer £30+ for a £10 qualifying bet. For punters who already have accounts with the major bookmakers, any of the ten new bookmakers listed above represent options that will still be available on Gold Cup day.
What is Non-Runner No Bet and does it apply to the Gold Cup?
Non-Runner No Bet means that if you place an ante-post bet and your selection is declared a non-runner before the race, your stake is returned in cash rather than being lost. It applies to the Gold Cup at all the major bookmakers offering NRNB coverage of all 28 Festival races. See our Cheltenham Non-Runner No Bet guide for the full confirmed list.
How many places does the Gold Cup pay each-way?
Standard each-way terms are four places at 1/4 odds. With a field of 16 or more runners, most bookmakers pay five places. With 20 or more runners, Boylesports, Paddy Power and Betfair typically pay six places at 1/5 odds. Exact terms depend on confirmed field size on the morning of the race — check extra place promotions before placing your each-way bet. See our Cheltenham Extra Places guide for full details by bookmaker.
When does the Gold Cup go to post?
The Cheltenham Gold Cup is scheduled for approximately 4:00pm on Friday 13th March 2026, subject to any programme changes by Cheltenham Racecourse.
