Understanding Best Odds Guaranteed at Cheltenham
Best Odds Guaranteed means that if the Starting Price of your horse is bigger than the price you took when placing your bet, the bookmaker pays you the SP automatically.
Cheltenham markets are volatile. A horse backed at 6/1 at 8am might shorten to 3/1 as money arrives through the morning, then drift back to 4/1 by the off. With BOG, you receive 4/1. Without BOG, you are stuck at 6/1 only when the horse shortens, and drift does not help you.
