Lincoln have been excellent under the Cowleys, and they’ve made a very good start to life in League One. They lost at the weekend, making it back-to-back defeats in the third tier, but they are so strong at home, and they’ll have the intimidating and formidable Sincil Bank atmosphere on their side throughout this tie. They enjoyed success in the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago, beating Burnley here, whilst they’ve already seen off Championship Huddersfield in this competition. This season, the Imps have developed their style, and they have become a lot less dependent on direct football. The additions of Joe Morrell and Jorge Grant have certainly helped, and the latter was off the mark at the Keepmoat on Saturday lunchtime. Cowley has admitted that he has “no priorities” this season, although he will be playing a strong side in this one. They gave the Toffees an almighty scare in the FA Cup last season, but that was at Goodison Park, and with the home crowd behind them here, it could be a different story.

Everton suffered their first Premier League defeat of the campaign at the weekend as they went down 2-0 to Aston Villa. It was also the first time that Marco Silva’s men have conceded a goal, and they will be expected to make a number of changes for this tie. Andre Gomes is injured, and Jean-Phillipe Gbamin is on the sidelines for a sustained period of time. The likes of Tom Davis and Fabian Delph could come in for this game whilst Morgan Schneiderlin is back from a ban. Whilst Everton have run a tight ship at the back, they haven’t excelled at the other end of the field with just six shots on target in three matches, and the likes of Moises Kean need to start finding their shooting boots sooner rather than later. The Lincoln defence is a very effective unit, and won’t give their opponents much space. They could be tough to break down in this one, especially if changes have been made to the Everton frontline.
Lincoln away was one of the worst possible draws for Marco Silva, and his side won’t have it easy on Wednesday night. It looks set to be a sell-out at Sincil Bank this midweek, and there should be a great atmosphere. If Everton make too many changes to their XI, they could be in danger of crashing out of the competition here. There wasn’t much between the pair last season at Goodison, and the hosts could take this game to penalties. Lincoln Draw No Bet offers value for our Lincoln City vs Everton predictions, and you should certainly get a run for your money on Wednesday night. It’s 19/5 with MoPlay.
With both sides being hard to break down, and each of the two managers being tactically astute, this could be a very tight affair. There were three early goals last time they met, but it’s unlikely to be that open at Sincil Bank. Under 2.5 Goals looks like the value pick in this one, and it is surprisingly odds-against at the time of writing. 6/5 for fewer than three goals is the second of our betting tips for Wednesday’s EFL Cup tie.
