After a slow start to the season, Arsenal now look to be firing on all cylinders and come into this one off the back of five straight victories. But their opponents this weekend – Watford – could pose a very real threat to that form given that they currently occupy fourth place in the Premier League table. Perhaps surprisingly to some, Watford boast one of the division’s meanest defences at present which makes my first betting tip for this match somewhat controversial. I like the look of Arsenal to win with a -1 handicap and base my optimism on the fact that The Gunners have scored at least twice in each of their last five outings. If they maintain that statistic there’s a very real chance that this bet could come to fruition, and it’s priced up at 11/10 with Betfair.

It might not be the bravest shout of all time, but can you select a more likely anytime goalscorer than Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang? The Gabon-born forward has bagged 12 goals in 19 Premier League outings since making the switch from Borussia Dortmund and he’s beginning to strike up a deadly partnership with Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette. You won’t get a massive price on Aubameyang scoring, but that’s reflective of the frequency with which he hits the net. Ladbrokes are the most generous, at 5/6, and we think this is more than worthy of a punt given his impressive goals to game ratio in England.

I mentioned earlier that Arsenal have averaged at least two goals per game this season, including the opening day 3-2 defeat at Chelsea. What I failed to mention was that they’ve also conceded in five of their six fixtures so far this term. With that in mind, then, you’d be entitled to expect both teams to score during proceedings. For that reason, I’m a big fan of the 11/1 available with Bet365 on the hosts winning by a 3-1 scoreline – particularly as it would also tick the ‘Arsenal victory with -1 handicap’ box.

Bookies are clearly taking notice of Watford’s fantastic start to the season given that you’d generally get a far shorter price than 1/2 on Arsenal seeing off what are generally perceived to be the division’s middling teams.
