Reasons for this Tuesday’s BTTS Tips

Fulham were considered unfortunate to be beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the weekend and will be hoping to make amends by eliminating Southampton from the EFL Cup. That clash features in this BTTS four-fold accumulator alongside the all-Championship clash between Cardiff and Luton with both teams capable of finding the net. The selections are completed by both Millwall and Reading visiting lower league teams capable of causing a surprise.

Cardiff vs Luton – BTTS

After failing to find the net in a competitive game for the first time since early March, Luton responded by netting twice in the opening five minutes when earning a 3-0 weekend win at Barnsley. The Hatters have now scored three times in three of their games during August and now face an EFL Cup tie at Cardiff. Since suffering relegation from the Premier League last term, the Bluebirds have claimed just one point from three away fixtures in Championship action but they have won both home games via 2-1 scorelines.

Fulham vs Southampton – BTTS

Although they were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at Craven Cottage on Saturday, Fulham were arguably the better team and were denied further goals by a resolute away defence. Scott Parker’s outfit had netted at least twice in their prior three games and now host Southampton in this EFL Cup clash. The Saints recovered from losing their first two Premier League matches by winning 2-0 at Brighton on Saturday although they were helped by the dismissal of a home player during the first period. Southampton also proved to be consistent goalscorers during the latter stages of the 2018-19 campaign.

Oxford vs Millwall – BTTS

Despite earning a creditable 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough on Saturday, Millwall were much the better team and will wonder how they didn’t score more goals such was their superiority. The Lions have also failed to net on just one occasion this season ahead of this EFL Cup visit to Oxford. Nine goals have been conceded by the hosts in their last three League One fixtures but they have netted in every competitive game to date this season although they were on the receiving end of 2-4 and 1-3 scorelines in their latest two matches.

Plymouth vs Reading – BTTS

Ahead of welcoming Reading to Home Park for this EFL Cup tie, Plymouth are unbeaten in competitive fixtures at the venue this season culminating in a 3-0 success against Walsall on Saturday. The Pilgrims have also failed to net in just one game this term, unlike a Reading outfit which has scored in each of their matches. Although the Royals lost their opening two Championship outings, they are subsequently unbeaten in four games and were easy 2-0 winners at Huddersfield on Saturday.
