Burton vs Rotherham Preview

The Brewers made an unexpectedly poor start to the campaign when slipping up against Ipswich at the Pirelli. Nigel Clough’s men created a few chances, but they weren’t at their fluent best. They bounced back at the Priestfield last weekend, with an XG of 1.9, and a 2-1 victory over the home-sick Gills. It was the perfect response to that opening day disappointment, and a midweek cup success will have further buoyed spirits ahead of this clash. Nathan Broadhead was the star of the show last weekend, and the likes of Liam Boyce and Scott Fraser are also off the mark after finding the net against Port Vale. Burton ended last season as one of the in-form sides in the division, and were quietly fancied to be in pushing for a top six position once again. With players such as Kyle McFadzean and Jamie Allen leaving in the summer, they’ve had to re-adjust, and very few sides will leave this ground with all three points.

Rotherham were the better side last weekend, but they were unable to break down a rigid Lincoln side at the New York Stadium. The Millers had an excellent record against the Imps going into that fixture, however, they fell victim to a Cowley masterclass, and they will be looking to bounce back in this tie. The South Yorkshire side did squeeze past AFC Wimbledon in their first game, and they also stuck four past League One rivals Shrewsbury in the EFL Cup. They are creating chances, and have looked excellent going forward in both of their two league fixtures so far. Freddie Ladapo is off the mark, and the return to fitness of Kyle Vassell is also a significant boost (although keeping him fit is often the issue). Paul Warne’s side are very good to watch, and they should create yet more chances in this fixture.

Burton vs Rotherham Betting Tips

The place to start here is surely with goals. Rotherham’s matches are generally very entertaining, and they should have found the net last week against Lincoln. Burton’s resistance is likely to be broken here, although the Brewers are also handy in the final third. When they met in the Championship two seasons ago, both fixtures ended 2-1, and we could see a similar scoreline in this one. Over 2.5 Goals looks very attractively priced at 23/20 this weekend.

Freddie Ladapo is 21/10, and could easily strike again here, and he netted twice against Burton last season whilst plying his trade for Plymouth. However, Nathan Broadhead looks very talented, and he is a potentially excellent acquisition for the Brewers. At the same price, he looks like a decent option in the anytime goalscorer market.
