Wycombe vs Fleetwood Predictions

  • Wycombe take a 4-1 lead into this second leg
  • Fleetwood won 1-0 at Adams Park back in February

With the season having been called to a halt back in mid-March, both of these teams have had plenty of time to build up to the League One play-offs. However, it was Wycombe who quickest out of the blocks on Friday evening.

The first leg was one of the most entertaining games in recent memory with a missed penalty, two sendings off and five goals.

Although second legs tend to be more open, it’s hard to imagine Wycombe taking the same approach as they look to protect their 4-1 advantage. Expect Fleetwood to push throughout the 90 minutes, but it may all be in vain.

Wycombe vs Fleetwood Betting Odds

  • Fleetwood are the favourites and can be backed at 17/10
  • Despite their victory on Friday, Wycombe are available at 13/8
  • The draw looks tempting at 9/4

Wycombe Form

Gareth Ainsworth’s side actually ended the season in mixed form with a W3, L3 record from their last six matches. Despite their inconsistencies, they have been involved in the promotion shake-up throughout the majority of the campaign. They qualified for the play-offs on PPG, and although some considered them to be fortunate to be here, they thoroughly deserved their victory on Friday night and should arguably be taking a bigger lead into this second leg.

Prior to Friday’s victory at Highbury, Wycombe had won just of their last four meetings with Fleetwood.

Team News

Wycombe have no new injury worries ahead of this tie and may name the same XI.

Fleetwood Form

Fleetwood ended the season in terrific form, and prior to Friday’s shock defeat, they’d lost just once in 2020. Away from home, they have won three of their last six, and had kept three clean sheets during that period.

Across the season, Joey Barton’s side had a 6-5-6 record on the road.

Team News

Paddy Madden and Lewie Coyle are both suspended for this game, although Danny Andrew is expected to replace the latter.

Wycombe vs Fleetwood Head to Head Stats

These sides have met ten times with Fleetwood winning just three of those encounters. Wycombe have the slightly superior record in this fixture with four victories, although three of those wins came by a 1-0 score-line.

  • Prior to Friday’s game, none of the previous nine meetings had featured more than two goals
  • Eight of the last ten meetings have ended either 1-0 or 1-1
