France vs Peru Betting Tips, Predictions and Preview

Mexico v Sweden tips

France vs Peru predictions and betting tips for the Group C World Cup fixture on Thursday 21 June, with an anytime goalscorer tip and correct score prediction included.

France go into their second of three World Cup group games knowing that a win virtually assures them of a spot in the competition’s knock-out stage. Their win against Australia on Saturday was not without complications, however, and Les Bleus will expect a marked improvement against a tricky Peru side on Thursday afternoon.

The South Americans – who were widely tipped as a potential surprise package before the tournament – must bounce back from a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Denmark.

France vs Peru Predictions

A lacklustre performance against the Australians has led many to question whether Didier Deschamps’ side truly are contenders to lift the Jules Rimet trophy next month. They boast a plethora of household names within their squad and are, on paper at least, as likely a bet as any to win the World Cup.

France do however have a habit of making things difficult for themselves – which makes Thursday’s match against Peru an extremely dangerous proposition.

Peru will need a least a draw at the Ekaterinburg Arena and might even have their sights on more. Given what’s at stake, and the fact that both teams prefer to throw caution to the wind and attack, I envisage a few goals here.

Unibet go 11/12 on over 2.5 goals which looks extremely attractive to me. France have score at least twice in eight of their last nine internationals, and they’ve also conceded in seven of their last eight. On this basis, the both teams to score market is a guaranteed inclusion in any France vs Peru predictions.

France vs Peru Anytime Goalscorer Tips

Antoine Griezmann played a huge part in France’s initial success at Euro 2016 and the Atletico Madrid man has already opened his account in Russia.

Unquestionably the focal point of France’s attack, the 27-year-old has enjoyed another fruitful season in Spain and is one of the leading contenders for the Golden Boot award. Griezmann was a late bloomer in international terms – only making his debut in 2014 – but you have to feel that France’s chances of progressing to the latter stages are rested quite firmly on his shoulders.

Griezmann’s track record means he’s always a worthy punt in the anytime goalscorer market, particularly when he’ll take free-kicks and penalties. Betfair go 13/10 on the Atleti man notching during 90 minutes, and that’s my second of three France vs Peru betting predictions.

France vs Peru Correct Score Predictions

Peru will be all too aware that their clash with France could potentially be their last meaningful game at this World Cup, after a painful 36-year absence. They’ll have to go for it, and are pretty much guaranteed to need to score at some stage given the strength of their opponents’ front line.

Ricardo Gareca’s men gave a reasonable account of themselves against Denmark but they’ll have to do a lot better to take points here. The problem for them is that they’re up against a decent side in France, and you fear that the 1998 World Cup winners will have too much.

I’m going to predict a 2-1 for Deschamps’ troops here, which would consign Peru to an early exit and almost certainly see France through to the last sixteen. Bet365 are the most generous on this outcome, at 8/1, and this completes my France vs Peru betting predictions.

France vs Peru Betting Odds

The French are strong favourites to dispatch Peru, with Bet365 (8/15) again offering the best odds on them winning. A draw is available at 18/5, while a surprise triumph for the South Americans is priced up at 33/5 – both prices are offered by Marathon Bet.

France vs Peru Team News

You’d think that only injuries would cause France to field a changed lineup from the XI that saw off Australia. Antoine Griezmann and Paul Pogba – who provided the crucial goals on that occasion – will surely keep their places. Hugo Lloris will start in goal again, with Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante expected to player the watercarrier role for which he is widely revered.

The introduction of Paolo Guerrero on the hour-mark visibly gave the Peruvians a lift against Denmark, and it’s highly conceivable that he’ll be granted a starting berth here. Jefferson Farfan was hooked during the same match, but will be expected to provide the wizardry that his side so desperately require.
